Dell just announced today that they're going to start shipping their new gaming notebook, the XPS M1630 in June. It features the 8800M GTX (it starts with an 8700M GT), Intel Core 2 Extreme processors, a 16" display (1440x900, 1680x1050, and 1920x1200 resolution options). Instead of copying the design used on the XPS M1530 and XPS M1330, it features the same design used on the XPS M1730 in a 1.4" thick chassis. Missing from the M1630 compared to the XPS M1730 is SLI and multiple HDs, which is a fair trade-off for portability. Dell said the new notebook will start at $1499. I'm pretty excited about it, and this could potentially be the best portable gaming notebook ever developed. What do you guys think? I think I might've found my next notebook.

I think that unless you can provide a link to your source, that you are very late to the party.

We've already seen the 16" concept XPS, and it looked exactly like M's 13 & 1530.

Is it still going to have the rather gimmicky Aegia PhysX card?

Price seems decent but I'm not sure going up 1" from a 15" or down from 17" is going to make a big difference.

No, but the exercise here is to get shot of the 16:10 aspect altogether and to use the ratio befitting your conventional widescreen gogglebox of 16:9.

Just so you know, this is, for sure, an April Fools prank.
There will probably be a M1630 in the future, but it WILL be based off the 1330/1530 design.
