Ok let me run this by the Dell gurus here:

    1) My XPS M1530 was a cash and carry purchase from a authorised retailer in my country. At the point of purchase I did not notice the cosmetic defect on the back of my lid where the XPS logo resides (One side was not fitted properly and is sticking out)

    2) After I noticed it after about a week of use I called Dell and they told me that because its cash and carry its just too bad for me, they will not repair/fix the LCD lid since its only a cosmetic defect.

    3) The ONLY way they say they will fix it is if I upgrade my warranty to include Dell complete cover....

Ok while i blame myself for not checking my XPS thoroughly at point of purchase but it really sucks that Dell would not fix it, I mean I am not asking for a replacement, just a tech to dismantle and refit the offending part.

Will my upgrading to Dell Complete Cover solve the problem? or are they just trying to get more money out of me???

That is a build issue...not a cosmetic defect. Argue that and demand your warranty be honored.
