Hey all. My laptop's motherboard recently died, and after calling Dell support, they said that the limited warranty on the laptop was out but I still had
"Rapid Response Depot" until the end of the year. This was kinda weird because they also told me that the warranty ended last December 2008 where the RRD ends this December.

In any case, the support tech offered $140 for 1 year limited and $180 for 2 yrs, and $75 for completecare addition up until the 2 years. That would make it $155 for 2 yrs completecare. Do you guys think this is a good deal, knowing that my motherboard would also be repaired under this warranty without extra charge?

Another question is, the support tech seemed to be almost negotiating a price with his manager, as if he were on commission and that the price could possibly be lowered even more. Does anyone know if the Dell Warranty Sales people are on commission, and if so do you think I will be able to drop this offer even lower?

    Thanks.

Considering that a motherboard on Ebay is about $200, either support plan would be worth it.

What kind are they offering? Mail-in or NBD?
