Is Dell Webcam Central software needed? Or, does the webcam work fine (with Skype, etc.) without it?
If all the Dell Webcam Central software does is to provide those special effects, then I don't need it as I never use those effects. So, I wonder if it's actually required for normal webcam operation.

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
It's not required, but it is a pain to find and redownload from Dell's support site, I recommend leaving it for your own sanity.

Well, if it doesn't do anything useful (other than special effects, etc.) then it won't drive me insane if I don't have it.
It's actually easy to download it, once you know where (which is sure not obvious and not well publicized). You login to your account on Dell's site, and then all pre-installed software is available for download.
I don't use any of the effects, so if I can still use Skype, etc. without Dell Webcam Central, then I don't see why I'd need it. That's what I wanted to know, if there was any reason to have it. -
It's just bloatware IMHO. -
Excellent info. Thank you!

Hi toronto,
In case you find any issues with web cam after uninstalling the ‘Web cam central’ application, you may use the below mentioned link to download and install the same.
http://ftp.us.dell.com/monitors/Dell_SX2210-Monitor_Webcam SW RC1.1_ R230103.exe
I hope this helps.
Thanks & Regards
