So I decided to try out 64bit Vista yesterday on my M1530 (Dual Boot /w XP 32bit).

Everything went perfect on the install etc.... Until I installed the Dell wireless drivers. As soon as I installed them, and rebooted my shutdown time has dramatically increased. I have tried it a few times, just to make sure. I then did a system restore back to remove the drivers, and my shutdown time goes back to normal. Vista has it's own broadcom drivers, but I SEEMED to notice some erratic download speeds with them.

If I still had Vista 32bit installed I would have tested it with that too. But when I did, I do recall my shutdown times to be much longer then I thought they should be. So maybe this was the culprit.

Anyone have any ideas on how to correct this?

Let Vista use its own Broadcom drivers for a while, and see if you observe any erratic download speeds as a result.

Would the erratic speed change over time?

You said that you seemed to notice erratic DL speeds; I advise that you wait a little while and see if this behavior is a consistent problem, or if it was just you. ;)

ah, yeah it was probably just me. Being hungover can have that effect ;) Will check it out more when I get home. Still wonder what it is about the Dell drivers that make the shutdown take forever.
