I went to order a Dell XPS today after putting together a configuration last night, and I noticed that the 460m processor that I was going to order is no longer available and has been replaced with the 480m. Is there a notable difference between the processors? I'm worried that while the 480m has a higher clock speed, it might be worse on the battery than the 460m. It also says "SC to 3.3ghz" which I assume means superclocked -- can you turn this off to preserve battery? I am purchasing the larger 9 cell battery but want to be sure that the 480m will not be bad drain on battery as I haven't seen any reviews of the model with this processor.

    Thanks for any insight.

The 460m and 480m are basically the same chip with a bit of a clock difference in a newer generation of cpu's to show improvement on Intel's part to keep buyers for the standard Core i series now that SB is out. The "SC to 3.3ghz" isn't superclocked it's single core speed 3.3ghz. The difference between those 2 cpu's in battery life is probably the exact same if you use them the same way, if it's not it might be 30 seconds different lol. You can turn the turbo boost off but it's not recommended as you actually have more efficiency with it on.

I had a feeling it was insignificant, but thanks for the information -- greatly appreciated.
