Thanks. I tried that and it still says device not supported, it's definitely got the right graphics driver. There's no window about graphics drivers that pops up so perhaps it's a different issue.
-
Can you direct "TCON_DP_REWORK_TOOL.exe " run from the Dino2 directory?
-
Yes, I can, thanks. If I run the CABC Off one, that should work?
-
For me, it has helped and after that I could normally run QHDFW_DBC.exe.
-
That worked, thank you so much. After it worked it said I had to update the graphics driver to the latest version, but on the Dell UK website the one I have 20.19.15.4300 is the latest version, I can only see the 20.19.15.4331 if I go to the US website.
Now to get Bluetooth working and this laptop will be perfect!espe likes this. -
I can not install the version 20.19.15.4331 by the German page (for whatever reason). But on the Device Manager and Automatic Driver Update it installed 20.19.15.4331. And so were the graphics driver crashes history. Then enter but also "20.19.15.4331" in PanelFWConfig.ini (as written).

Bios 1.1.9 is out: http://www.dell.com/support/home/dk...-9350-laptop&languageCode=DA,EN&categoryId=BI
No idea what is new. -
I have requested the Forum. Maybe I'll get an answer.

I got the following answer:
It applies to an optional update.
These minimal changes have been made and an additional Intel SGX added option. -
Is anyone else having trouble installing Dell's latest update for Intel Dynamic Platform & Thermal Framework driver:
http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=2T0W9
Mine just errors out and quits the installation before updating the 4 x Generic Participant entries, leaving them as Unknown Devices in Device Manager. Have to reinstall the previous version to get them recognised again. Currently on BIOS 1.1.9 and with latest posted chipset driver update.
So ... does anyone know what material impact these framework drivers actually have on the running of the XPS 13? -
No idea what the impact of the driver is, but it installed just fine here.
-
I just got my XPS 13 9350, did the Windows 10 "updates", then all of the Dell drivers. I still have screen flicker. The only thing I may have messed up was that I think I grabbed a different model XPS 13 drivers at first, but then I installed the correct ones. I'm about to redo Windows 10 back to factory image and then try again... I do have the new BIOS that came out 1/13/2016 as well. Anyone else having flicker issues even with all of the latest dell drivers and BIOS? I followed the Dell recommended install order, as well. I really want to move all of my work files to my new XPS 13 from my somewhat flaky Surface Pro 3, but the flicker is a showstopper...
-
Hey, when I first got my laptop I had the screen flicker a few times, but once I updated the intel video driver it completely went away. I haven't had screen flicker in almost 2 weeks. May sure you update the graphics driver to the newest one (you can get it from the Dell support site). It should be version: 20.19.15.4331.

Hi all,
Been following this thread for a while before ordering a new XPS and taking delivery a week or so ago. All works fine and I'm pretty happy with it for the most part.
I was aware of "coil whine" issue before hand and am not surprised it's present on my PC as well. It's not too load but is annoying if one gets close to the laptop. Is that basically a design issue that most of XPS 13 have? I'm trying to decide if it's worth exchanging it just for that or not. I personally wouldn't bother with individual parts replacement on a brand new laptop and opt out for a new unit instead.
Thanks in advance. -
My WIFI seems less stable with the newest bios 1.1.9. A couple of times I had to reconnect to a network because it had the exclamation point next to my connection.
-
Can confirm that.
-
My long boot time issue seems to have disappeared with 1.1.9 BIOS.
-
Does anyone know how the battery estimates are calculated? Mine seem to jump around all over the place - just now it said 67% 3h44 left, then dropped to 66% 6h15 left! My usage hasn't changed in the last few hours, it's been fairly constant internet browsing and not at all intense data analysis.
-
Okay, I did a "OS reset" from within windows choosing the option to keep nothing. It seemed to not go back to the version of Windows 10 that shipped with the laptop, but instead to a fresh install of the latest major build of Windows 10 (the November 2015 Update aka version 1511). After the reset, I carefully redownloaded and installed the Dell drivers in the correct order. I did not reapply the January 13 BIOS or Thunderbolt firmware, as those were already in place. Some of the drivers were already at their most current versions, so I did NOT choose a repair option if that was the case. So far NO FLICKER!
Now I'm going to install Office 365 Pro Plus, Enable Bitlocker and then install Hyper-V (all 3 of those were present last time when the flicker was happening). I hope it isn't the dreaded Hyper-V induced flicker that was plaguing Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book...Last edited: Jan 14, 2016 -
Installed the new BIOS and wifi-driver, took 30min then the video-driver crashed, so thats not fixed. The last few weéks my keyboard stops working for a few seconds here and there but that could just be Edge ****ing around.
-
Hey all
Today is my second day with my XPS 9350 and I'm a little concerned about the internal temperature. I currently have Firefox open with one tab and iTunes paused and I'm hovering around 52C - 55C. They keyboard is warm as well. Is this normal?
EDIT: So it turns out that the built in MaxxAudioPro software may have been using a lot of CPU power. I've turned it off now and the temp has gone down a little bit 49-54 now.Attached Files:

This might have been answer already, but does anyone know what type of m.2 SSD the 128gb FDH Non-touch version is compatible with? I heard that the 128gb version comes with a Sata M.2 drive and the higher models comes the PCIe M.2. Just curious if I need to buy a Samsung Evo 500gb or if can I buy a Samsung Pro 950. Thanks
-
The 128 GB model also has PCIe available. If you use the 950 though, you're probably cutting your battery life in half, considering its idle consumption is around 60 times the idle consumption of the EVO, and around 50% of what the whole laptop's idle power usage is.
-
Hey everyone, I have a question about the service tag. If I go to Dell support to look at my original config, under components it says some parts are 9343 (camera, service tag (!)) and some are 9350 (most). Is that the case for all units, or is mine different because it was a refurb? I cannot work out what was refurbished on it, it seems brand new to me.
-
duplicate post, sorry.
-
I have the 500gb 850 evo in mine now.
Working great

I would like to summarize both issue and resolution for the 'Slow PM951 4k writes in either AS-SSD or AnvilPro'. Slow as > 1Mb/sec in 4k writes. I just got my XPS 13 9350 i7/8GB/256GB couple days ago and noticed that it does suffer from slow 4k writes. The final stable resolution in my case is (it does require Windows re-installation or refresh from recovery partition):
1. Change in BIOS 'Settings' - 'System Configuration' - 'SATA Operation' mode from 'RAID On' to 'AHCI'
2. Rebuild OS/Re-install OS/Refresh OS - (I personally always OS myself so this may not be feasible for some)
3. Download and install 'Samsung NVMe Driver Installer' - link: http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/minisite/SSD/global/html/support/downloads.html Do not be afraid that is says 'only supports the Samsung NVMe SSD 950 PRO'.
4. Done - after these steps your test should look like this:
5. I would strongly recommend to install latest BIOS firmware/Thunderbolt firmware/drivers for chipset etc but that is not required to get PM951 to operate as it should. -
^^^ Yes, makes a huge difference.
Unfortunately I did not run any test before I reinstalled, but I ran some after (both fresh install of Win 10):
RAID set in BIOS, Intel RST driver:
AHCI set in BIOS, Samsung NVMe driver:
-
Forgot to say, this was with the 1TB PM951.
Another test (AHCI set in BIOS, Samsung NVMe driver):
-
I also installed the F6 drivers extracted from Samsung installer, found here:
http://www.win-raid.com/t29f25-Recommended-AHCI-RAID-and-NVMe-Drivers.html -
Can anyone recommend a keyboard cover?
-
I thought it had already been established that the issue was with AS SSD not reporting correctly rather than the actual Intel RST drivers. Crystal DiskMark doesn't have this issue - check back in the thread, speeds even in RAID mode with Intel RST are comparable to those posted for AHCI/Samsung NVMe.
I don't see any need at all for some of the hoop-jumping suggested above. Running in the default mode with supplied Intel drivers is plenty fast and stable. -
I put an 500 EVO in about 2 months ago...works fine. There is a lot of info out there that if you are not doing heavy graphics performance difference (normal use) will not be noticeable. I posted some HDtune results earlier for the 500 vs 128. I have two xps's with each in them and really don't notice day to day difference, except the benchmarks and the 500 benchmarks significantly faster. That said, the 950 might make you feel happier!
-
Thanks fellas.
Another question, I know last year there was an issue with the 9343 having auto adaptive brightness display being unable to be turned off and manually controlled by the user. Has this since been fixed with driver updates and fixed on the 9350? -
Some Tech Noob Notebook Consultant
Both the 9343 and 9350 can turn off adaptive brightness unless the screen is FHD.
Sadly my screen is FHD, but I actually don't mind it at all. Not really a deal-breaker. I do notice it, though. -
I don't doubt the EVO will use more power, but according to this page, the EVO, no matter what size only supports the SATA interface while this page indicates the PRO supports the PCIe interface. Scroll half way down the pages, click "See Full Specs" and look at the interface and speeds. It also says the idle power consumption is 50 mWatts versus 70mW, and average is 3.5 Watts versus 5.7 Watts. A significant difference to be sure, but not 60x.
Just to be clear, I have no personal experience with either version, as I still have the original 256GB (NVMe PM951 NVMe SAMSU) in my touch model, but I've been looking at those pages because I'm probably going to upgrade too. -
www.anandtech.com/show/9702/samsung-950-pro-ssd-review-256gb-512gb/10
Ah, yes, I missed the part where Anandtech discuss the fact that their 950 Pro couldn't get into lower power states, so I thought its idle consumption would always be around 1.6W. Well, I'd be interested in someone trying.
-
Sometimes I'm having this issue where left tap to click ends up sticking as if I'm holding it down. Physically left clicking still works fine though. Anyone have a suggestion on how to quick fix this with restarting?
-

Did you check if ClickLock isn't turned on under mouse properties? -
Haven't checked that, but this issue is that it randomly happens. At some point it just screws up for a reason I can't figure out why.
-
Bumpity bump... Let me ask it a different: assuming you were aware of this issue, which way did you go (kept it or else) and why? I'd appreciate some insight. Thanks.

I bought it when unaware of the coil whine issue. I brought it up and asked here and on reddit. I decided it wasn't a big issue(you can only hear it in extremely quiet environments from regular typing distance), and the rest of the laptop has been great for me. -
I am really sensitive to background electrical noises etc. and I am keeping the laptop. It is not a dealbreaker for me as it can really only be heard in extremely quiet environment and even then the noise is not constant (such as when I just read, do not scroll, it is actually noiseless from working distance).
I am amazed by other qualities of the laptop - small footprint, great build and materials, NO fan noise (!), battery life... what I do mind more is the unstable touchpad scrolling (bouncing back) and the pretty shallow keyboard - but that is probably the price to pay for thin laptop.
By the way - I was afraid of the CABC issue and after a month I have to say this is not an issue for me at all. I plan to do the graphics stuff on external display though. -
Has anybody found a short sd card that is suitable for our laptop?
I have tried Jetflash 350, but it is too short. -
Hello, all. I'm new to the XPS13 9350 and have a quick question.
If I close the lid, any open windows resize and move to some lower resolution. Through trial and error I have discovered that this only happens if I stray from 250% scaling in the windows display settings. I prefer 225% (to display a bit more on the screen, albeit smaller) but that's when the moving/resizing problems occur.
This happens no matter what action I have tied to the close lid action in power settings (nothing/standby/hibernate).
Anyone encounter this before?
Aside from this and a squirrely trackpad (inconsistent two-finger scroll speed among windows, a bit jumpy), I'm pretty happy with the laptop. Of course I'm coming from a MacBook Pro so any trackpad is going to feel inferior to that. -
After reporting my model with a display fault back in November, I have finally received a replacement today which to my joy has the dreaded coil whine and a faulty network adapter. Can't say I'm impressed, Dell.
-
The problem is pretty widespread. Even if you exchange your XPS13 -- or buy another machine entirely -- you may well get another one with coil whine.
This is by far the most annoying thing about the device for me. I think I've solved the sleep problem by disabling hibernate (knock on wood) but the scroll bounce persists no matter that I do.Last edited: Jan 18, 2016 -
Another quick question: Is there a way to disable the touchscreen on the monitor? Tried it in the BIOS but it still works in Windows.
-
Is there a way to create a sticky that discusses the solutions to multiple issues we all are having? That way we can prevent repeat questions and stuff?
Sleep problem
Dell MaxxAudioPro
Coil Whine
etc. -
Hi everyone, I'm currently trying to solve a few issues/questions I'm having with my new xps. I've solved almost all problems, except the bouncy scroll (my other xps does not have this and the only difference is that i have clean installed that one - which might solve the problem for my new one as well)
However, what I can't seem to find an answer to is the SSD speed differences between the QHD-model and the FHD-model in the review from notebookcheck (see the QHD review, it includes a comparison). http://www.notebookcheck.net/Dell-XPS-13-2016-i7-256-GB-QHD-Notebook-Review.155081.0.html
The writing 4k speed on my non-touch FHD is below 1MB/S, same as in the review unit. However, the QHD-version is getting over 100MB/s - multiple sources report this, including the review here. My question is, has anyone else tried the AS SSD benchmark? are you getting similar results? Is there a fix out yet? The review mentions a driver problem
