Has anyone else noticed the computer doesn't wake from sleep by pressing the keys or touchpad after recent updates? I don't know if this behavior changed for me after the last Bios update or more recent Windows updates, but I just noticed this today. I wonder if it's to address issues with machines waking from sleep spontaneously.

Perfectly normal unless you turned hibernate off. It has always been they way, if it hibernates you must use the power key to bring it alive.

I put one in as well and it is definely better but not as it is in other machines I have. I think the isse with this machine is the antennas more so than the chip itself.

Interesting... I just installed Synaptics touchpad drivers, so that could explain why my touchpad doesn't wake the device. To clarify, yours doesn't wake up from key pressing even if you try immediately after putting it to sleep?

I mean immediately after it goes to sleep, before it hibernates.

Same. Trackpad keypress wakes up the computer, but the keyboard doesn't. Microsoft Signature Edition.

    Hello
Have the dell xps13 9350 16gb. Have updated to all the latest drivers including BIOS. But not been able to use the usbc - HDMI. I have the dell usb-c adaptor, but the HDMI is not recognized when I connect it to my 1080p tv or for that matter my 1080p projector. Not sure what to do at this point. Is it a faulty dell adaptor?

I'm having the same problem as well. I have the Dell DA200 usb-c adapter, but the HDMI is not able to output to the projector but the VGA on it is working fine.

I have the XPS13 9350 and just hooked mine up to the TV. The USB, Gigabit Ethernet and HDMI all function without issue. I haven't tested the VGA port (I don't have anything that uses that type of plug). I think the adapter I'm using is the same as yours, but it has a different model number. I bought mine off amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B012DT6KW2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s0

Of course reading the reviews, it seems a lot of people have been having trouble with this adapter, so maybe I just got lucky that mine is still working?

I am looking to upgrade my current 128gb ssd to a 256 or 512gb. What is the better model ssd to get? Is the 950 pro worth the cost and have all the little bios tweaking that was needed before been resolved. Also they worth the extra cost. Thanks!

I have to say... installing Synaptics touchpad drivers has really improved functionality. The two-finger scrolling jump/bounce problem is completely eliminated.

Is the USB out working? I did not try the VGA...but the USB out on the adaptor also has issues. When I plug a usb drive, it shows in windows explorer as a drive. But it keeps getting disconnected and reconnected, every 30 seconds or so.

For everyday use, a m.2 sata ssd will feel as fast as the 950 pro. If you don't have to have the fastest, you'd be fine saving $100 and getting a 500gb EVO.

    Hey there,

can anyone please tell me if the Dell logo on top is a sticker or a paintjob? I would like to install a skin to the device when it´s here, but i´m afraid it could damage the logo.

When I have an external monitor connected using USB-C to DP (U2715H) the external monitor does not go to sleep / turn off, so during the night the monitor is always on and the computer does not go to sleep either. All this with power connected as well. Using the Dell power plan its set to turn off the display after 5m/10m (battery/on power) and go to sleep after 1h/2h. Anyone else seeing this?

I just ordered the 500GB 850 Evo M.2 from Amazon.com for $160. Not sure where you are at. There are a couple videos on youtube on how to take the laptop apart seems fairly easy just need to be careful around the clips.

I have had my XPS 13 9350 for a week now. I am pleased with it apart from the awful range of the Dell 1820A wireless card - only one "bar" whilst the other two laptops in the same room have 4 out of 5 bars! Continuous disconnections although sometimes it will remain connected for 30 minutes... Anyone any experience of Dell UK replacing this wifi card with something better or would I be wasting my time asking Dell UK?

The 9350 comes with a 3 in one card reader - aka SD card slot. Did your model come with a blank for the slot? This is also the first laptop I have had where the SD card slot does not contain a spring to keep the SD card (and blank) in place.

No blank, no spring. A regular SD card will stick out of the laptop, similar to a macbook air or something.

I've had no issues with WiFi, although I'm in the US.

I have used it before and just tried it out on the 9550. It works okay--for some reason a couple of the commands I am sending it are getting repeated. Kind of a bummer, but I'm going to keep playing with it.

Several people here (myself included) have upgraded(?) the card to an intel 8260 which runs much better but in my opinion it's the antennas and not the card which is causing the low reception issue. I have a few devices with the 8260 sitting on my desk and the others are pegged at 867 while this one fluctuates from 350-650 most of the time. Still it's much better than the 175 I got with the 1820.

The SD card slot just a touch deeper than on the Macbooks, so most half height SD cards go in too deep. I found this one works nicely due to having the pull tab for removal: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00IAEMTNY

I get a rock solid 867 with my 1820, so I guess yet again this is due to Dell variable build quality.

Or how close you are sitting to your router, mine is about 30 feet away behind two sets of walls. A good test is to carry it into the same room as the router, when I do I get good numbers which again leads me to think it is the antennas more than the card.

867 Mbps WiFi connection speed (theoretical max)

Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network Connections > Wifi adapter, double-click. You can also add a shortcut to your desktop.

I never see below 500 Mbps in any part of my house with an Asus AC68U router, but 5Ghz can be fiddly and easy to degrade depending on build of walls, etc. Still, it's plenty fast for me.

I have the RT-AC68P myself, never expected Asus to build such great routers when it seems they got into the game so late. At least I never noticed them until a year or two ago.

    Hello everyone,

I am thinking of getting the i7-6560U, 4k, 16gb RAM, 512 SSD with Iris Pro graphics. It's available on the Dell UK site.

Have the bugs and the major issues ironed out? I don't want to spend ~$2.0k and get frustrated with major unsolved probems.. :(

Exactly the question I just came here to ask. I have a 2015 razer blade and I'm interested in the XPS 13 because of the portability, TB3, and battery life. Is it a safe buy?

Exact model that arrived for me early yesterday. Coming from an XPS 12 (flip model) that was unfortunately stolen. XPS 13 so far is very good, quiet, fast and works with all my accessories with no problems, inc displays connected via TB. Design and build is already well documented and back up my short experience that it is a rugged and portable machine.

The only problem, and a clear reduction in experience over the XPS 12, is the track-pad. The Microsoft drivers are clearly not as polished as the synaptic drivers I had previously on the XPS 12 even if their gesture support didn't integrate with Win 10 to the same degree. As per others the problem is worst in Chrome but no browser is immune. The issue, at least for me, is exclusively in two finger scrolling. I have not noticed the problem outside of using browsers; including a lot of scrolling in Excel.

I will add before I explain that I have found it completely fixable but has required me to consciously retrain how I use a track-pad.

In essence, I scroll up and down with my two fingers together. This behavior was interestingly enough developed because when trying to scroll with two fingers slightly apart using Chrome I constantly zoomed in and out by accidentally if the finger width diverged at all. Another pain in the rear. Easy solution, keep fingers together, distance apart doesn't change.

On the XPS 13 having the fingers together leads to the scrolling browser content lurch, jump and bounce at times making the experience very frustrating. I have tried all solutions documented short of installing the synaptics driver as looking to create a setup that I don't have to constantly re-do after an update. Ultimately the only way to stop it was to keep the fingers slightly apart and that problem goes away. Issue then is then that I am occasionally zooming in and out accidentally again. Weirdly this is much worse on Chrome which seems more sensitive to pinch and zoom gestures so I am now back using Firefox and my workflow is almost back up to speed again. Overall not the worst length I time it has taken me to get a laptop setup for myself and working well.

In summary. The laptop is great, apart from the track-pad issue, indeed likely one of the best I've had for the short period I've been using it. I still not sure if it is worth it over the MBPro when considering the hassle of dealing with immature software, but I do believe that all issues, as such they are, are software based and therefore expect to have these niggles ironed out over time. Till then it is still usable with the track-pad and the rest is great.

    Henry

As a side note, this whole thing is semi-reminiscent of when I got the XPS 12 and Chrome wasn't touch compatible in addition to scaling very so so in windows. I also had to revert to using firefox then until they, as per this case, Microsoft and Google, got the software to a level that made best use of the hardware.

    Don1,

Followed your instructions and the figure which I see varies between 72 Mbps and 65 Mbps. Will keep an eye on it and see what happens.

A use on this site - http://en.community.dell.com/suppor...-wireless/f/3324/p/19670877/20884054#20884054 - thinks that updating the BIOS has helped him.

    Hello,

I was just wondering if I can get the Dell XPS 13 (9350) in GOLD with a 1080p screen?

    My preferred configuration:
    • Core i7-6500U
    • 8GB Memory
    • 256GB PCIe SSD
    • Intel HD Graphics 520
    • FHD 1920x1080 (Non-Touch)
    • GOLD Color

    Thank you.
