    The latest, 1.2.3

I haven't messed with settings in there too much other than I think I tried disabling c-states just to see if it changed anything (and it didn't), and I re-enabled them after that.

Just kind of seems like it enables some power saving stuff during sleep and then it doesn't pick up that the laptop has woken back up for the GPU speed until it gets plugged in (even if it was plugged in to begin with)

Check out the 9350/9550 threads as throttling after sleeping was encountered by several users. I don't see the issue posted much recently so suspect some potential solutions are there...

Seems they will announce the 2in1 version of this tomorrow and I am guessing that is why there were more than you would expect on the outlet site yesterday. Personally I have had a yoga for a couple of years and for me at least 2in1s are not all that great. Too heavy, clunky and I hate the KB wrapping underneath. Either get a laptop or a tablet or both but they can keep the convertibles.

It looks like Dell has released a batch of updated Chipset Drivers yesterday...might be worth a check to make sure you're up-to-date

So having used the device for around a week now, still very happy with the hardware although the trackpad is already shiny where I use it most in the centre - will be trying a damp cloth to see if that help with cleaning it up a little.

The boot time still bothers me, especially given that the Dell logo comes up fairly quickly but it then stays there for a good while but hoping a future BIOS update will fix the issue.

Found a few other issues which are very annoying but unsure if this is a Dell issue or Kaby Lake issue:

    1) Netflix wouldn't work at all for me using Chrome (haven't tried Edge so can't comment on that), the videos don't load and get a M7361-1253 error. Been reading around and as a result tried Netflix on Chrome Canary and it works! Unsure if this is because Chrome isn't fully compatible with Kaby Lake CPU's yet - any thoughts?
    2) Youtube videos load fine in Chrome however if I pause for say longer than 20 seconds, upon attempting to resume the video it crashes and I have to refresh the page which is extremely annoying! Haven't tested on Canary yet but I will do.
    3) If watching any videos using VLC player - once you pause and then resume there is no sound for a few seconds, it then comes back and cuts out again for another second or so before stabilising. My drivers are up to date so again unsure what the issue is but it is very annoying.
    4) When using a headphone, it takes a few seconds before the sound begins to come through the head/earphones.

I know it looks like I'm nitpicking however I wouldn't expect any of these issues on a premium device and when I compare this to my ASUS ROG it is nowhere near as good in terms of having no issues, the ROG device I have works flawlessly and boots up very quickly.

    Thanks

You might reset your expectations after reading threads here on previous generation XPS (9350 and 9550). Dell had the audacity to release those laptops in Beta form so 9360 users are benefiting from a year of extreme real-world troubleshooting.

I had the same issue for amazon prime videos - sometimes chrome couldn't play it and shows an error message. However Edge works fine.

    Hey all,

I just received my XPS 13 9360 with i7, 8gb RAM, 256gb SSD and QHD screen. Everything is great except for a few annoyances.

1). I really hate the adaptive screen brightness, is there a way to disable this feature? I've read online that there is a fix for the QHD screen by calling tech support, but can anyone confirm and how to implement this? I've already turned off the "Enable Adaptive Brightness" in Power Options.

2). Is there a way to not allow devices like Bluetooth mouse and keyboards wake up the laptop from sleep? My "Allow this device to wake the computer" is grayed out under Device Manager and I don't think there is an option through the BIOS. Every other computer I have has this option available but the "Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power" is grayed out. My XPS is the complete opposite - The "Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power" is available whereas the "Allow this device to wake the computer" is grayed out.

3). My brand new laptop is not sleeping. Whenever I press the power button as it is set to Sleep, or manually press sleep through the Start menu, it would turn off the display, but my Power Indicator light will still illuminate and I can still hear the fan running.

4). Once I fix my laptop so it actually sleeps, I heard that while sleeping, the Power Indicator light would not flash like on other laptops and would just not illuminate at all, if so, how do we tell if the laptop is indeed in sleep or turned off?

Sorry for my post and really appreciate the support! I am very OCD about my "babies" :)

I hope they do change it from x2 to x4... Or they are going to do a second round of false advertising the tb3 speed again... But can any owners of the xps 13 9360 confirm this yet?

1 - Yes, there is an app on the support site to enable/disable it here.
    http://www.dell.com/support/home/us...-laptop&languageCode=en&categoryId=AP
4 - By how fast it come back on and whether or not your previously opened apps are still open.

    Hey Don1,

It seems like there is no driver found from the URL you provided. Also, from the URL, I noticed that it states 9350 model not the Kaby Lake edition. Will this still work properly once I find out the URL? Thanks so much!

I received a new Kaby Lake XPS 13 9360 with the same specs on Friday as a replacement for one I received that had a few issues. This one is much better, but I see that I can't put mine to sleep either. When I click on sleep in the start menu the display goes dark but the power button stays on, it does not pulse. Is the power button light supposed to stay on when the XPS 13 is sleeping?

No, the power button light should turn completely off during sleep, no pulsing.

But what was the other issues you had for you to exchange your laptop?

It had a loose rattling trackpad and the fan was loud. This one the trackpad is fine and it is whisper quiet. Now I am wondering why it's not sleeping. When I click on sleep the display does go dark, and when I hit any key on the keyboard the screen comes back to life.

Does your Power Button light stop illuminating when in sleep? I now know that is suppose to happen.

Do you exhibit any of my other problems?

My power button stays illuminated. If I wait a couple of minutes and then press a key on the keyboard, the lock screen shows on the display and if I press a key again the desktop shows with the start menu popped up. It seems like it's acting if its sleeping, otherwise wouldn't it just come to the desktop as it was before I clicked on sleep?

I'm not experiencing the issues you mention in Netflix or YouTube with Chrome. I'm running Chrome beta. I'm not finding it slow to boot. The Dell symbol shows in the Bios screen for maybe a second before the spinning circle booting to Windows. I don't think it takes longer than maybe 8 seconds or so. The SSD in mine is the THNSN5256GPUK NV.

OK, just timed it. From pressing the power button to Windows is 14 seconds. So I was a little off, lol.

After some time, I really love this XPS 13.. I get some weird typing lag on Notebookreview though.

Turning off Connected Standby seemed to correct my sleeping standby battery drain now the system is being treated like a normal laptop that turns everything off when sleeping. Connected standby is an enigma to battery life on a lot of machines aside from the Surface Pro 4 I use for work it seems..

The keyboard is still weird to type on for me. Something about the keys or feedback/force acuation just feels off but it's not too bad once you get used to it.. Since I type a lot on other devices and then go back to this XPS 13.. it's just strange but it's nothing terrible.

The Netflix question isn't mine. My question pertains to see if there a way to not allow devices like Bluetooth mouse and keyboards wake up the laptop from sleep?

My "Allow this device to wake the computer" is grayed out under Device Manager and I don't think there is an option through the BIOS. Every other computer I have has this option available but the "Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power" is grayed out.

To help your question, did you run Windows update and update drivers? I did that and now my laptop sleeps, but it takes a while for the power button light to turn off.

The URL is correct, just download the firmware update from there but as it tells you when you go to install it you MUST have the latest intel graphics driver installed first from the dell site. Get that here
    http://www.dell.com/support/home/us...-13-9360-laptop&languageCode=en&categoryId=VI

doesn't matter that it says 9350 it is the right one and I did all of this yesterday so I am sure of it.

Sorry about that. I'll check to see if there are any problems with that later. Can you tell me which driver update would affect the sleeping issue? I did do several driver updates when I received it and disabled the adaptive brightness. I did them from the Dell site as I uninstalled the the Dell download software. Thanks.

Edit: I just tried to check. I have a Logitech usb mouse connected but when I go to it in Device Manager there is no resource tab to check for the waking feature. Maybe it's because I didn't.t install the mouse software.

I ran all of the Windows updates and updated the BIOS. Although my laptop now actually sleeps, it takes a lot longer to actually sleep when compared to my friends older XPS 13 9343.

Is your Logitech mouse wireless? Also, can you mouse wake up the laptop from sleep? I'm trying to prevent this.

I was at BestBuy today and they had the new XPS 13 2 in 1 on display. I put it to sleep and the light on the power button stayed illuminated, it didn't pulse or go out. So I wonder if it was having a sleep issue as well.

It does take a while to fully sleep and mine at least seems to switch to hibernate or hybrid sleep or something at some point even though the option is set to never. There is also no other power plans available but balanced. I wonder if I do a clean install if that will change.

Just wondering, how did you turn off Connected Standby? I did a lot of research and can't find this feature anywhere!

I think this may help with the sleep issue many are facing. Does your laptop take a while to sleep as well?

    google says:

    1. Start the registry editor (regedit.exe).
    2. Move to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power.
    3. Double-click CsEnabled and set to 0, then click OK.
Google didn't say this but I am sure you have to reboot after doing the above. It also enables all the missing options from power settings when it is on.

That's really disappointing to hear. I should have read the owners threads on here rather than basing my decision entirely on professional reviewers; they all failed to mention any of the common issues mentioned on this (and other) XPS threads. Unsure if that is because they don't really use the device extensively or if there is a more cynical reason!

I wouldn't be too disappointed. This is good news for you and 9560 buyers as the major 9550 bugs have been market tested and Dell has slowly resolved virtually all the issues over the past year.

Remember Kaby Lake is virtually the same as SkyLake. 9560 is virtually the same as 9550.

    " High-end without high-end performance"

This was the opening line of a Dell 9550 review by notebookcheck.net. Brutal.

So professional reviewers can provide some good information, warnings, global specs and first impressions. But the reviewers have a limited amount of time. And are paid by advertisers. So generally I find them a good first level of research.

Then the forums here at NBR are super helpful. They have massive amounts of detail; just remember a large percentage of the posts here are troubleshooting so there is also a potentially negative bias. You just don't see too many people posting they have no issues.

The XPS specs are excellent. I was trying (unsuccessfully) to show how NotebookCheck highlighted some XPS issues. Check out a few of their articles. They didn't mention everything wrong with the laptops at release but did a rather comprehensive "first impressions" compared to other reviewers.

That new 2in1 uses the latest core m processor and yet they are still charging about as much as the do for the xps13 laptop..now that seems crazy to me. Maybe the new core m is much better than the old ones were.

Is anyone running the latest Windows 10 Insider Preview 15002 on their Kaby Lake XPS 13? If so is it running smoothly or are there any issues?

Just ordered mine from the outlet store! I have a 9350 now with QHD. It's been perfect. I don't like the QHD panel that much though and don't need the resolution, so ordered the 9360 with a 1920x1080 touch panel. I'm pretty sure I'll be much happier with that. Hoping for one with no coil whine!

I plan to move the SSD over from the 9350. I know it's not the perfect thing to do, but I plan to just pop it in and install the network drivers from a flash drive and then download the other drivers from the Dell website. If that goes awry, I'll just start from scratch and go that way. Anxiously awaiting...

In the U.K. The 2 in 1 has either the i7-7Y75 Processor or the i5 7Y54. These are 4.5w version of the Core i5/7 and are not 'core m'. Non-turbo speed is 1.3GHz, which is not much for a premium laptop is it?

Hey all! I ended up picking up an XPS 13 9360 for work and programming projects, and I am loving it so far. Ultrabooks have certainly come a long way since I last looked at them. I decided to splurge on a nice case from Waterfield Designs; can't wait for it to arrive! What accessories do you recommend? HDMI adapters, cool stuff for the Thunderbolt 3 port, that kind of thing.

That's a nice case -- do you happen to have a link?
