Dell XPS 13 L322X - new battery problem? Warning screen!

I'm extremely happy with my five year old Dell XPS 13 L322X laptop. Really fast and reliable. Much faster than my wifes one year old Lenovo that has a i5 in it.

So, I decided to replace the battery in my Dell XPS 13 L322X as it was five years old and only holding a charge for a tad over 2 hours, sometimes less. So I got a new one off eBay and it is the exact one that I took out of the laptop.

Problem is, when I turn on the laptop, I get black screen that says:
"Warning: The battery is not recommended battery. The system will
unable to charge this battery. Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run setup the utility.

So I go into F2 setup and it says:
Battery Health: This battery is performing normally.

So I then hit F1 which takes me to the normal laptop home screen.
Everything works normally and the battery charged to 100% very quickly.
So it does work fine, but I still get that warning screen anytime I turn the laptop back on.

Ah... I found the problem.
Dell has a way to tell if your not using a OEM battery. According to Dell representatives, original
Dell batteries have these microchips to help consumers detect counterfeit batteries. Hence this message at startup:
"Warning: The battery is not recommended battery. The system will
unable to charge this battery. Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run setup the utility.
(A sneaky way to force you to buy a more expensive Dell OEM Battery)
To correct this issue, you need to reset the system's ability to detect the battery.

1. Turn off the laptop.
2. Unplug AC power.
3. Remove the battery.
4. Replace AC power.
5. Turn on laptop, allow OS to boot.
6. Once logged in to the machine, perform a normal shut down.
7. Unplug AC power.
8. Replace battery.
9. Replace AC power.
10. Turn on laptop, allow OS to boot.

Now that is solved, I'm seeing just how long this battery lasts in Power Mode for better Performance.
The maximum time the battery last with a slide show running the whole time is a few minutes under 3 hours. I completely ran the battery down that way and it recharged very fast.
Running it the 2nd time with a slide show running the whole time and it ran for 4 hours 31 minutes before shutting down! Not bad a all. I'll recharge the battery and run it one more time tomorrow. Must be you have to completely drain the battery a couple times to get maximum charge? I'll post 3rd time when done.

My battery has the same sticker as my old one and the seller says it's new, has a good reputation on eBay

I kept getting the message anyways after it worked a couple times, was fooled because it works without the warning if not plugged into AC charger, but when plugged in then I got this message:

So I got lucky, when I asked for a return, the seller not only instantly refunded my money and told me don't bother shipping it back as to save me shipping cost.

 

I ordered another Dell XPS 13 L322X battery from Newegg instead of eBay that said their battery was OEM. When I got it, it booted with the same warning. So this one not OEM either.
It works without the warning if not plugged into AC charger, but when plugged in then I get this message:
"Warning: The battery is not recommended battery. The system will
unable to charge this battery. Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run setup the utility

Ah ha!!! I found the easy way to fix this battery warning at startup.
When you start the laptop, keep tapping F2 until the BIOS screen shows up.
Then scroll right to Advanced.
Then scroll down to Adapter Warnings.
Change enabled to Disabled.
Then scroll to EXIT
Make sure "Exit Saving Changes" is selected, then hit "Enter" on keyboard, then "Yes".
That's it!

So it gets better after a few recharges... Not bad a all.
