my dell 1330 can't power on properly. every time i turn it on, it would be on for a few seconds then it would immediately die. after googling several threads which had similar problems it turns out that this might be a capacitor on my MOBO. however, with my bare eyes, i can't tell that any of them are messed up or which one is. some people said that their c10 capacitor is messed up but i honestly don't know how to test it nor take it out. even worse, there is no indicator of what type of capacitor they are either.

here are a couple of pics of the capacitors in my mobo near the power board., can anyone tell me:
    1) does anything look wrong with any of them
    2) what types of capacitors they are, and what is the right replacement for them, cause it's not labeled on the caps themselves and i have no idea.
    3) what the best way to do about diagnosing and fix this problem so i can fix my mobo and hence my computer? i don't have any fancy expensive tools like a thermal gun...

Search in the M1330 Owners Lounge, there are some very knowledgeable people there, who will certainly help you with that. I read a similar post there, just go and search.

it could be your memory, if you have 2 dims or more try swapping them around in different slots, and use one at a time in each slot.

If this fails, it likely you have a motherboard problem as you already surmise. but it s worth testing the memory first.

nah it's not the ram cause that's what i first thought might be a problem too so i've already tried that. i'm pretty sure it's the mobo cause i've took out every part, disconnected everything and only hooked the AC adapter and the mobo together and it still died. so it could be the mobo, the power board, or AC adapter that's the problem. only problem is that it's hex shaped ac adapter, so testing if it's my power board or ac adapter would require me buying new ones lol...
