    Guys,

Been playing with my 1340 for a day and I have run into a real snag. No BSOD... something almost as bad.... a Memory Drain.

While running IE7, the laptop begins to build up its memory usage as outlined in the performance tools/taske manager until IE is using well over a gig of physical memory and the computer warns me to shut down some applications to free up some memory.

This is only happening with IE7... I have it running alongside outlook, excel, 2 access databases, and music. All the other apps are maxing out at 52-53k of mem use... ie is 900k+ after about 30 minutes of use.

Any ideas on why this is happening and how to fix?

    HELP.

I'll bet this is a problem with IE7 and with not the rest of your computer. Try updating or patching it. Failing that, maybe try using an IE8 beta or another browser? I don't know if it's actually possible to uninstall and re-install IE7, but alternatively you could try a clean install of the OS as well?

I recommend reinstalling IE7, not IE8. IE8 still has compatibility issues with a lot of sites out there, and seems to have install certificates n plugins.

As said before, this is a problem with IE and not your laptop. To be honest, I find both IE and Firefox do this for me over time.

Get IE8 and see if that clears up your issues

    opera and firefox...

it depends on how many tabs you have opened too... in Opera, when i have >80 tabs open, memory reaches 1GB :D

    Figured it out.

Had something to do with the IE Add ons. I disabled a bunch of the Microsoft Live stuff, facial recognition, and some helper toolbars.

In the end, I believe the combo of Acrobat 9 Reader and Acrobat 8 Professional may have been the culprit.

Anyway... Memory usage under heavy activity has gone from 1,200,000 kb to roughly 60,000 kb.

Who in the hell can juggle 80 open tabs at any one time? It's just a browser, not the messiah!

I'd recommend using the built-in session saver, or mod the speed dial to give Opera a breather every once in a while you lunatic. :p
