Hi,
I'm having troubles with windows 7 (build 7100 64 bits) and xps 1340. All Vista (64 bits) driver seems to work fine until the notebook wakes up from the sleep or hibernate mode. The Ethernet will not recover at all.
In the Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections the Ethernet will display cable unplugged even thought the cable is plugged. It will start functioning correctly after restart. It does indeed bothers me as if i close the notebook it will go to the sleep mode then I open it and the Ethernet connection is lost !
Also I can't get the inbuilt infra-red working. I have installed the driver but can find any software to use it with!
Any ideas?

I have the same problem with ethernet not working when the notebook wakes from sleep. I have tried to disable/enable the connection, but it seems the only way to make it work again is a reboot.
Most of the time i'm wireless, so it's not that big a deal for me - but still annoying. -
Mar tin....exactlywho are you to advise someone on proper etiquette??

No problems here, but I'm using build 7264. I'm also using the Win 7 chipset drivers from nvidia, which may have an impact.
As for the infra-red, the dell driver doesn't seem to work, but there is a driver through windows update that should make it work. -
i have nogen problems at all :S

can you guys that don't have the problem post the link to the drivers ?
Clegg are u using build 7100? -
I have just started running Windows 7 RTM 64 bit and the only problem I have is that the slot-loading drive brings my laptop to a standstill once loaded. I have the HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GS20N drive. The firmware update on the Dell site for the slot-load drive (with my Tag) is for a different drive!
I have also searched the forum.
Any suggestions welcomed. -
I have since trawled through every page of the "official STudio XPS" thread manually and it's quite clear that there are lots of problems with this drive. I will try to get it replaced with the TSST drive, which is what has worked for most people. (My drive started working again after I put in a music CD and played it for a while and then put back the software DVD - not good.)
