I recently purchased a Dell XPS 14 and it arrived yesterday. I enjoy playing around in Ubuntu and I thought I might give MythTV a shot. However, I can not seem to get Ubuntu to recognize the TV tuner. It's like it doesn't exist. Would anyone have any idea how to get it to be recognized under Linux?

    Thanks a lot!

    Can you see the Tuner?

Open a Terminal Session and type

    dmesg

Have a look through the output to see if the tuner is being recognised by the kernel (usually, but not always you need to see a line with dvb in it).

Until you've got the kernel to see the card you won't be able to configure MythTV. Also worth noting that MythTV isn't really designed for notebooks, if you just want to watch TV using the tuner you could use either VLC or MPlayer for that.

    Good luck
