I'd like to dedicate this thread for those with the Dell XPS 15 (9550) and Ubuntu OS, and list problems/issues and how to solve them.

For me, I have dual boot Windows 10 and Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. Appears everything works out of the box after installing Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, which is nice. However, some issues I face in Ubuntu:
    • Bluetooth keeps turning ON after a restart, when you originally turned it off.
    • Wifi changes to up-down arrow (LAN icon) after suspend, but Wifi works just fine.
    • Headphones work out of the box, but if you plug it in, restart the computer, and try to hear somehing, it won't work. I would have to run 'alsamixer' and unmute the headphone and increase the volume to reset it.
If anyone have solutions to the above, please let me know. If anyone has issues with the laptop and Ubuntu, please share them in here as well.

    Thanks!

I'm thinking about installing Ubuntu on it as well. Windows 10 is really getting on my nerves ;) Have you been able to resolve the issues you listed? Any other issues popped up?

If you happen to grow tired of Ubuntu and its sloppyness I suggest you try Manjaro. I've tried many distros on this laptop and Manjaro KDE is a beast on this. Everything works out of the box (including Wifi, bluetooth) and its very simple to change to proprietary graphics drivers and upgrading to the latest kernel. You only need to install synaptics pckage to get full touchpad features (palm detection). Manjaro also has the advantage of being able to use the Arch user repository and is based off Arch but with the simplicity of installation. KDE Plasma 5 is a very slick UI and is very customisable (perhaps too customisable). I get around 10 hours battery life on my FHD i7 XPS15 9550 doing browsing, word processing and some photos.
