    Hey guys,

I have done a tone of research on the net, trying to find answers and haven't found much. What i have found is a heap of people with the same, if not similar issue.

I own a Dell XPS 15 (late 2013 model). It came pre-installed with Windows 8.1. However, as soon as i got it, i wiped it clean and installed windows 7 64 bit. Everything works fine except the only issue i am having is that the SD Card Reader is not working at all. So naturally, i went to the dell site to find a driver. Dell only supports windows 8.1 for this model laptop. No windows 7 drivers at all. And, to top it off, there isn't even a driver for the SD Card Reader under the windows 8.1 from their site. So, i have tried other types of drivers, event tried sourcing the Ricoh Chipset Driver and Realtek SD Card Driver with no luck. Windows update didn't help either.

It is almost like the laptop thinks there is no SD Card Reader. So I checked out device manager, and noticed 1 error. PCI Data Acquisition and Signal Processing Controller - unknown. The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28). So yeah, there is no driver installed and i can't seem to find one.

Also, the dell website has a troubleshooting section for the sd card if it is not working properly. It mentions to reinstall the drivers and gives you a link to click on. That link takes you to all the drivers for this model laptop. Again, no sd card reader driver.

    Can anyone help?? Cheers

It could be that the SD card reader is actually broken... are you sure that it worked properly under W8? What's the hardware id on the thing in device manager?
