    Dell does not sell it.

I checked online and there is a site called laptopbatteryexpress that seem to have excellent reviews. You can buy a battery for the xps 15 9550 for like 120 or 130 dollars depending on if you want the 84wh or the 97wh.

I did check old reviews from other sites a long time ago and someone mentioned in a mac forum that said uses garbage batteries like on ebay but charge retail prices. But when i check google and reviews, i see a ton of excellent reviews. Does anyone have opinion on this site? So from reading the site, these batteries are not geniune from dell but they are made by them... correct? But reviews seem to be superb. Has anyone bought any batteries from them and can give opinion? Price is pretty average i say... but how does it work?

I found 2 sites that seem to sell xps 15 9550 batteries. The first one is authentic as i believe lot of people mentioned this site earlier. It cost 150 dollars but it is genuine. They seem to have the 56wh and 84wh but the 56wh is not available now.

    https://www.parts-people.com/index.php?action=item&id=21120

Does anyone know about laptopbatteryexpress? These don't seem to be authentic and seem to show made in samsung and shipped here. So are these very good but not premium? But they are selling at pretty close to retail prices so this is pretty good as well?

    https://www.laptopbatteryexpress.com/Long-Run-Battery-Dell-Precision-15-5510-p/dell-p5510xt.htm

Now the big question i have is this. Does the xps 15 9550 allow a 97wh battery or not? Parts-people does not have a 97wh and doesn't ever have it. But laptopbatteryexpress has the 56wh, 84wh and even 97wh.

Can anyone here confirm the 97wh works for the xps 15 9550? Because i certainly wouldn't mind getting the 97wh over the 84wh if it cost a bit more.

Well when i click on xps 15 9550 on the site, it shows those as batteries that are compatible.

So i like to know has anyone bought 9550 batteries from either of these 2 sites and can give feedback? The 1st site seem to be only site that sells genuine parts but you pay premium for it... 150 dollars for the 84wh battery. The other site is like under 125 but they say its not dell genuine but samsung manufactures it in korea and sends it to them.

Hey all. I am going to order a new xps 15 9550 battery very soon. I had put this off for a very long time. Again, my current battery is a 56wh and i had it for 2.5 years... the battery is like 92% worn according to battery report. I will get the bigger battery 84wh or 97wh since my current 2.5 inch 250gb samsung ssd is running low on space... so I will buy a 500gb or 1tb m.2 ssd and then remove both the 2.5 inch 250gb samsung ssd and the 32gb m.2 ssd that is on my dell xps laptop.

    Would like opinion on this.

I could buy it off parts people in the original link for the 84wh battery. It cost 130 dollars but when you put a discount code, it can come down to $117.

With laptopbatteryexpress, it cost $120 for the 84wh battery but with a discount code, its $108. The thing is I believe these are not Dell OEM batteries but made by samsung from what i read on the site. But i see tons of good reviews on laptopbatteryexpress though. So is it foolish to pay $108 as oppose to $10 more for the official Dell 84wh battery?

With the 97wh battery, it cost $130 but with discount code, it comes to about $117. I really want the bigger battery. So I could pay the same for a Dell official 84wh battery or a laptopexpress samsung 97wh battery. Which option would you choose here if you were me? People parts does not sell the 97wh battery. If they did... well i would buy it off of them instead.

Also can someone here confirm if the trackpad on the dell xps 15 9550 is raised up... this is 100% a battery swelling issue? Because i don't want to buy new battery, and a new m.2 ssd and upgrade ram to 16gb only to find out... this is something else with the system?

I just took a look at that right now. So from looking at it...

    https://www.laptopbatteryexpress.com/Dell-XPS-15-9550-Batteries-s/60148.htm

They only sell 56wh for the xps 15 9550? The 84wh and 97wh are for the dell precision 15 and NOT xps 15 9550?

What is confusing is if you check out 9560, they sell 97wh battery for it and i read on reddit a while back, you could actually use a 9560 97wh battery in a 9550. Anyone know if that is confirmed true?

Hey all. Can anyone here confirm a 97wh battery works for the dell xps 15 9550? On Dell site and the manual, someone said it only shows 56wh and 84wh.

Parts people sells the 56wh and 84wh one but laptopbatteryexpress seems to sell all 3... 56wh, 84wh and 97wh.

Now if you were to buy the 84wh one... always better to buy it from parts people since they are the official dell battery seller? I see there is only like a 10 dollar price difference between the 84wh battery on parts people vs laptopbatteryexpress... which seem to be samsung battery. But if you get it same price for the 84wh from parts people vs the 97wh from laptopbatteryexpress, which do you choose? I am going to order it in the new few days and cannot decide. Only thing for sure is im not getting a 56wh since i want to remove my 2 hard drives on laptop and just get one m.2 ssd so i can get the bigger battery... 84wh or 97wh.

For battery, most agree just get the 97wh or 84wh one right since if i get a new ssd... get the m.2 one so i can remove both the 2.5 inch 250gb samsung ssd and the 32g m.2 ssd that it came along with? Would you say better to get a 97wh one from laptopbatteryexpress or the 84wh from parts-people which is official dell battery if its the same price? I do see they sell battery on ifixit for 56wh and 84wh but probably best to avoid that?

Does anyone know who makes batteries for ifixit? Laptopbatteryexpress seems to say batteries are made in South Korea from samsung. So what about ifixit or other 3rd party batteries from amazon? I see tons of batteries on amazon.com that sell the 9550 whether its 56wh 84wh or even 97wh but who makes these batteries? Are they made in the US or imported from somewhere else?

So I contacted laptopbattery express and they say the 97whr battery does not work 6GTPY... i posted the link above earlier.

Can others confirm this is true or not? If it doesn't work, then I guess i have to go with the 84whr battery.

But I read others say the 97wh does work with the xps 15 9550 though. So who is correct and who is wrong? I did read people use the 84wh replacement of the 56whr.. of course they need to remove the 2.5 inch hard drive... and said that works and bios recognizes it. So there is a good chance the 97whr battery won't work or get recognized?

The battery picture in the photo isn't even the xps 15 9550. Also there are 2 batteries 56wh or 84wh... it doesn't even list it on the site... the site looks shady to me.

Again, i like to know if anyone here can confirm the 97wh battery does work or not... because i prefer the 97wh as oppose to 84wh one if its only a bit more expensive. Its only 10 dollars more on laptopbatteryexpress but they said the 97wh isn't compatible.

Okay I like your opinion on this. I mentioned to the laptopbatteryexpress rep, I read online the 97wh model 6GTPY works with the 9550 because I read on forum other users said it does but also... on ebay... one popular seller sell the exact model for the 9550 and even the seller of that battery on ebay tells me its compatible with the 9550 since i see lot of people bought from that seller.

This is what he tells me

The xps 15 9550 uses many different batteries and are not interchangeable. The battery used varies based on when it was ordered and what configuration it shipped and
NOT THE MODEL NUMBER ALONE. You can't go based on what other people used in theirs, you need to go based on what your laptop has in it which is a 4GVGH 84h battery.

Now can others confirm this statement? I never heard of that before but that sounds very interesting. So the model number is not what you are suppose to look at but what configuration the battery was shipped in? I have never heard of that ever.

    Thanks.

The XPS 15 9550 is available with two battery sizes. If you opt for the base model, it comes with a 2.5” SATA drive and a 56 Wh battery. If you opt for a device with the M.2 SSD, the extra space taken up by the 2.5” drive is replaced with more battery cells, giving you 84 Wh of capacity.

Hey yes i heard of that. But i heard ppl also put in a 97wh into it and that also works... which is what i wanted to do. But i guess i have to take the safe route and just get the 84 Wh one then right? Im going to buy the battery very soon.

I have used 3 batteries from amazon in various systems here and all worked fine. Actually, the one in my inspiron I am typing on now, works better than the original. OEM is not always awesome. OEM uses cheapest supplier to make maximum profit. keep that in the back of your mind.
