Hello folks, I need some quick feedback. I have a dell promo gift card for $115. I am debating between getting the following from Dell. 1. 16GB RAM kit (8GBx2) for $114. or the dell companion 18000MAH for $125. These prices include tax so I will be getting the ram kit for free and paying a difference of about $10 for the dell companion. What would ya'll do? I am looking for advice here on what to get? Do people really use battery packs? Or should I just upgrade the ram for free? Thanks ya'll.

My vote is either get something that you can use or something you can sell easily on craigslist. -

@lancorp Can you believe it? I am finally keeping one. I think what finally made me feel at ease was the $871 I ended up paying for a brand new i7, 256GB, 1080P, 16GB RAM that goes for around $1600 (w/taxes) on Dell.com.
I still think the key travel and keyboard can be larger but I have small hands and I am becoming used to it now. I no longer see screen flickering at 0% brightness and overall many updates since it first came out have solved many of the software issues. Some people are still seeing hardware issues but I am happy.
In case you are wondering how I got the pricing this low, make sure to check out my experience I shared in "prices paid" forum. I just picked up the 16GB ram kit from Dell so yeah I am definitely keeping this one. -
Can anyone confirm the max ram speed supported on the 9550 i5? Looking to upgrade from 8gb to 16gb.
-
32GB max capacity, across 2x DDR4 SODIMM slots.
16GB is absolutely not a problem. Dell sells 16GB configurations from their website, so you know that 16GB is 100% supported. -
Some rare souls have gotten 2400 RAM to work at 2400, but I've purchased the same stuff and it only runs at 2133. I think the majority of people are stuck at 2133 regardless of RAM speed.
It doesn't matter much because the higher speeds come with higher latency values, so it's basically a wash.pressing likes this. -
I installed 32GB's of Hyper-X impact and got increased performance. It's 2133Mhz but still better performance than stock RAM, according to the benchmarks I ran.

Hey ya'll can we upgrade to the bigger 97Whr that is now available on the 9560 model if we have the two drive variant of the 9550? And also is there anyone who as upgrade the wifi card to either killer or intel? Is there a thread for that? Thanks.

I have just the one 500GB SSD drive with the 84Whr battery (4k display) 9550 model. Will this new 97Whr battery work in my laptop?
-
I'd be pretty surprised if the new battery isn't a slightly different shape.

Why not get someone who has a 9560 post info for us 9550 users? The Chassis remains the same. I am pretty sure the internals and placements remains unchanged. Those are my thoughts. A 97Whr batter coupled with a 1080 screen? You kidding me? Get out of here. Probably will get some respectable battery life comparable to ultra books *giggles. (^__^)
