Hello, this issue it's driving me nuts, so if I get any help here it will be really appreciated.

    1. Windows 10 original that came with
    2. Drives configuration NVMe 512GB only.
    3. BIOS version: 01.02.00
    4. BIOS mode: RAID as it came with
    5. Installed/not installed Samsung NVMe drivers -> probably not

    OK, so now the problem...
Few days ago it began, that laptop right after it would go to sleep/hibernate and even shutdown from command, it would turn right back on after 5-10 seconds. It was really WTF thing, after some manually restarts by holding power button, it worked fine..And now there is another problem. If I put laptop when on battery to sleep, it won't wake like it should, but actually restarts. Sometimes I even get blue error message: "Recovery; It looks windows didn't load correctly" What is funny is that, if I put it on sleep on charger, it works with no issue.

Anybody had that problem? Should I try fresh WIN10 install? Should I change to AHCI mode? Btw I tried that, but than windows doesn't boot, I get inaccessible boot device...Probably I should install Samsung NVMe drivers first?

Being in dark, have no idea what to do. Could be HW problem, and so I should return it?

Nah that can't be it in my case :/
Specially now that my problem is that, it never wakes up from sleep in battery mode, but always just restarts.

I don't know what that means, but:

    C:\Windows\system32>powercfg -lastwake
    Wake History Count - 1
    Wake History [0]
    Wake Source Count - 1
    Wake Source [0]
    Type: Fixed Feature
    Power Button

When running report C:\Windows\system32>powercfg -energy, I get:

    Analysis Results
    Errors
1.)USB Suspend:USB Device not Entering Selective Suspend
This device did not enter the USB Selective Suspend state. Processor power management may be prevented when this USB device is not in the Selective Suspend state. Note that this issue will not prevent the system from sleeping.
    Device Name USB Composite Device
    Host Controller ID PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A12F
Host Controller Location PCI bus 0, device 20, function 0
    Device ID USB\VID_046D&PID_C52B
    Port Path 2

2.)CPU Utilization :processor utilization is high
The average processor utilization during the trace was high. The system will consume less power when the average processor utilization is very low. Review processor utilization for individual processes to determine which applications and services contribute the most to total processor utilization.
    Average Utilization (%) 6.39

3.)Platform Power Management Capabilities :pCI Express Active-State Power Management (ASPM) Disabled
PCI Express Active-State Power Management (ASPM) has been disabled due to a known incompatibility with the hardware in this computer.

Have NO IDEA what any of these means, but ok :)

Do you have a Wireless USB Mouse/Keyboard? I have a Logitech one and that error is from it.
The high CPU utilization is not really all that high or an issue, and PCIe power management error is known in all Dell XPS models so far and is not clear whether it actually means anything significant.
But these are not the source of your shut-off issue.
Gonzo is right about the sound driver. Happened to me twice, one lasting a day and the other 3-4 hours. Drove me nuts that I had no way to completely shut down, and went through the steps Gonzo lists and found that. Went away on its own the first, second I reinstalled the driver to fix.
Not sure there's any alternatives to the Dell drivers as even Windows Update installs them, but temp fixes I'd recommend are to check for and install any windows updates, restart one or two times, and then force power-off by holding power buttom if no success.

    Hi,

I'm having the same problem as yours, and I found the culprit of it.
The causes to such behavior is introduced on the latest Win10 update kb3156421, I've already uninstalled it and my laptop wake up from sleep flawlessly (on battery mode, don't have issue while on ac)

    Hope it helps!

    Cheers!

Try a BIOS reset then a BIOS downgrade to 1.2.0 if tthat doesn't help

But first update the BIOS to the most recent version if you haven't done that already.

Hi, did you mean "sleep" or "hibernate"? I have the restart issue when it wakes up from hibernate, no matter AC or battery

Will try. So I have to go back to RAID, which is a BIOS default setting.

GoNz0, going back to the default BIOS settings (after switching back to RAID) did not help. But, downgrading the BIOS version from 1.2.14 to 1.2.10 seems to SOLVE the issue (at least at the moment)!. It doesn't reboot from wake-up after sleep or hibernate.

But, after the BIOS downgrade, Win10 could not detect the audio, and I had to install a driver for it using the one that you included in your ISO with Anniversary ed.

If anything happens, I will re-post, but would express my sincere gratitude throughout the process. Thank you.

P.S. So disappointed at Dell. How come they have customers downgrade their BIOS to solve this kind of issue??
