OK, so I have a dell xps 15 I didnt order it with blu ray however but it does say E: BD-Rom
as well as D: DVD+RW Drive

Now I bought a blu ray movie because I figured it was blu ray accessible because of the E: drive.... turns out it doesn't recognize it.. not sure if its a driver I need or what ??

    Any help would be appreciated,
    Thanks,
    Mike.

Did you install a tool like MagicISO or Daemontools? That kind of "CD/DVD/BD" emulators add an extra drive to your computer, newer versions add a BD-rom ( RE ) drive. This is a virtual drive and can only be accessed through your windows with mounting an ISO or whatever.

If your laptop doesn't have blu-ray, the D: drive is your DVD+RW drive... the slot one...

^ what he said. Optical drive will always be D:\ unless you have multiple partitions that have been assigned drive letters. The Xps 15 chassis does not have enough room for 2 internal optical drives.. If have an external BD-Rom installed it will show up as the next available drive letter by default

If for some reason you actually DO have blue-ray drive there, you'll also need playback software - like the PowerDVD blue-ray edition Dell ships - to make it work. Windows will not be capable of playing BD out of the box.
