I have the same AUO17ED display. I think its just another codename used by AUO. I searched their website for notebook displays and this was the only 15.6" 1080p display I could find. Anandtech also mentioned that the display was manufactured by AUO. So I guess this is it.
AUO - TFT-LCD
-
U.S. Price for FHD 1080p just went up to $195.
-
they have also AUO10ED (B156HW01 v0, studio 15 1080p) and AUO11ED (B156HW01 v1?, studio xps 16 wled 1080p), as wel v3 witch is unknown, but same specifications

Ordered mine and it was in production for 1 day! I wonder how they build it and do the quality control in only one day before sending it out!
-

Glad I got rid of my Macbook Pro too, Windows 7 is awesome. -
I've received my Dell monitor U2711 is awesome, I only expect to be able to run it with my XPS 15 at full resolution (2560x1440) via mini DisplayPort. -
Edit: OMG, just checked again, FHD isnt available atm. -
Mmm.... Removed from the Argentina site as well...... My order was confirmed on 1st Dec; I hope they don't have any problem to supply the FHD screen, cross my fingers !!!
-
My order was confirmed on November 30. Is still in production. I hope that the shortage of screens does not complicate my delivery date. -
Current Expected Ship date: 26/01/2011

Sigh. -
Looks like 1080p option is also gone from US site now as well.

To those of you with a shipping date after 5th January you may want to wait and see what, if any, announcements Dell make regarding the Sandy Bridge chipset. If there's a Sandy Bridge version of the 15 going to ship it may be a better proposition.
Just worth keeping in mind.

It's not like Dell is going to start shipping these new XPS systems with a whole new CPU and chipset within even weeks of the official launch by Intel. The earliest I can imagine them changing up the just launched XPS model is by next summer.

'15.6 Full HD B+RGLED TL (1920x1080) 1080p [add £144.68]'
It doesn't really affect me - but for those of you who are desperate for the screen upgrade.... check it out!!

I hear a lot of people talk about how the sound on this laptop is "the best sounding speakers ever" but they seem kinda low for me... I have it on full volume and my HP laptop that I bought 3-4 years ago could get a lot louder than this one... Is this normal or am I missing a setting?
-
just curious to know how ps2 games would run on this notebook.if anyone would be kind enough to report the frame rates while using pcsx2 for playing ps2 games ???
i would be more interested in 435M/i7 results... -

Just an FYI for people who ordered fro DELL LA (Latin America). I ordered the 1080p screen, it arrived with a 720p screen, when DELL was contacted about it, it seems the 1080p screen was a marketing error on DELL's site. So if any of you ordered it while it was an available option get ready to be a little disappointed. IMO the 720p screen looks nice in terms or colours etc, but I will be returning mine, because I want 1080p

Order Status: Sent (enviado)
I can not wait any longer! Great news to wake up and go to the Dell website and see that my laptop shipped -
-
For the purchase orders already taken with FHD screen there are enough stock to accomplish our orders.
That was that the Customer Assitan said.
Will see. But keep your mind in peace. -
I wouldn't get off the phone with them untill they agreed to send out a technician with a replacement FHD screen. (I use the term 'technician' very loosely by the way!) -
I've never heard so much bull***t in my life. Like they said demand a technician comes out. In LA you pay stupid money in the first place so deserve the best service. If it was me I would want a replacement screen and compensation for time and calls made etc ...go kick some Dell ar*e.

one of the things is am considering is the early reports I am hearing about Sandy Bridge is that its a bit better than most people expected to it to be. I am basing it on this Unreleased Alienware M17x spotted running next-gen Intel Sandy Bridge chip -- Engadget (reportedly may be released a couple days after CES - Jan 5th I think) so it may make sense for me to take my refund now and wait until sandy bridge and get an i7 then. I only ordered the upgraded i5 because of switchable graphics and if the sandy bridge i7 would facilitate it, then it may be worth my while to wait. So I am not too disappointed, it may be a blessing in disguise for me.
