I am facing weird issue with XPS 15 L501X screen. It displays windows image for 10-15 seconds and suddenly flickers and goes off(LED lights still on). Laptop screen display has lights but no image. I bought new laptop screen but same situation. I am little confused between cable problem or screen or Video chip problem.
Observations posted is completely on external TV. Here below complete illustration.
We have 4 option in laptop.
    1. Disconnect Projector (Computer Only) - Laptop shows nothing. screen has lights but no windows image. External TV shows nothing as expected.
    2. Duplicate - Laptop screen shows 10-15 seconds when laptop started. then goes off. External TV shows low graphic/distorted/broken image display.
    3. Extend - Laptop shows nothing. External TV is clear and perfect windows image.
    4. Projector only - Laptop shows nothing as expected. External TV is perfect.
    Please advice.

How do you get the screen to turn back on? Does moving mouse / keyboard turn it back on, or do you need to reboot?

If moving mouse / keyboard turns it back on, it sounds like it's a mis-configured display-off timer. Go into Windows Control Panel --> Power Options --> Choose When to Turn off Display (on left-hand menu). Intentionally change that setting, so that it forces Windows to write that configuration setting to Registry.

Oh, excuse me. It sounds like it's more than just some software configuration issue.

I'm assuming you did the usual? Update drivers from Intel?

And what do you mean when you say "screen has lights"? What color(s) are those lights? Can you take a YouTube video of your laptop doing this?

And did you recently replace the laptop screen yourself, as a DIY project?

Can you try to disconnect some parts of your lapotp and try it? For example, disconnect they keyboard wire, disconnect the touchpad (or only the touchpad buttons) and so on.

I have a l502x and I was having problems on my screen. The entire screen goes down during some seconds or enters in sleep mode randomly. I bought a new motherboard form Aliexpress as suggested on some forums and same problem. Finally, the problem was the touchpad buttons, after disconnect them the problem was solved, so I replaced it with new 15$ ones.

    Good luck
