The Envy 14 had Reil's software that allowed for smooth two finger scrolling, three finger swipe, two finger right click, etc...

Any suggestions on how one can improve the touch pad's performance? Scrolling just doesn't feel as responsive as the Envy 14 (w/ Reil).

    Suggestions?

Might be unrelated but use a mouse if possible, even the cheapest one will beat the best touch pad in almost any way.

Eh...Most of my laptop use is on the coach or the bed, which makes it hard to incorporate a mouse in there.

Scrybe sounds pretty cool, from the demos on their website. Has anybody tried it yet?

Installed the latest drivers, didn't seem to help it too much.

Uscrybe is OK, but not that great. Takes too long to execute.

Most decent mouses can be used on many surface(including mattress, or even your leg) now a days. Search them online and read some reviews and you should find one that's right for you.

I found this, tried it, and LOVE it. It's pretty much just like 2 finger scrolling on a macbook. Prior to installing this, I enabled 2-finger scrolling with the latest synaptics driver, and it worked less than half of the time. Typically, I'd place 2 fingers on the touchpad, and the touchpad didn't detect any fingertips. It was driving me crazy.

this little app is great. My 2 fingertips are detected 100% of the time, and there's also support for 2-finger actions, like right clicking.

So what about edge scrolling? Is that no longer available with Synaptics?

Having also come from an Envy 14 i'm also missing the extra reponsiveness from the custom apps.

The link above seemed to be from inside the HP forum, would that still work on the dells?

I cant get the three finger things to work very well. I can just about use it to go back in internet explorer but i'd like to be able to use it for other broswers like Opera. With the custom app for the Envy I was able to assign a keyboard combination to the three finger swipe to get around this.

    Any suggestions?

It's available but turned off by default in favor of two-finger scrolling.

Works perfectly on my L501x, don't see why it wouldn't work on the L502x. Worked on my brothers Studio 1558 as well. Way better than synaptics 2 finger scroll.

Thank you, dsutton! I was starting to give up hope that I'd find a way of getting the two- and three-finger tap functionality on my new laptop that I used to have on my old Asus netbook and this great little bit of software does it. :)

I bought the Logitech M515 for my wife, and she loves it. She uses it primarily on an overstuffed arm chair.

Personally, I find a mouse much easier to use, and I plan to disable the touch pad as soon as I get my XPS.
