    Hi all.

Hoping you can help me on this one. I've been reading through the Owner's lounge and the only thing I could find relevant was the issue regarding Bluetooth device drivers; except my bluetooth is working perfectly fine..!

Thing is my problem is that, since getting the laptop; I've switched it on only to see the laptop discover some hardware and fail to install the required driver. There's no 'Hardware ID' in the Device Manager so I go to 'Physical Object Name' and all I get is "\Device\000000a1".

Googled, Downloaded Unknown Hardware Identifier which picks up nothing. I uninstall the device and the laptop isn't affected..only for the same error to appear four times the next time I boot the laptop.

Trust me when I say I haven't uninstalled or installed anything out of the ordinary since buying the laptop.

MS Office, iTunes, Nokia PC Suite and MS Security Essentials are all that's on it.

Hopefully someone can help as it's doing my nut in.

I just had something similar with some Vostro 3750s. Have you installed the USB 3.0 drivers? If so, you should see two entries in the USB section of Device Manager that include the word "Renasas" (or similar, they've already been deployed and I can't look at one). Also, I suppose your USB 3.0 ports won't work without the driver. Maybe try reinstalling them anyway.

If that's not it, try going into BIOS and disabling devices one at a time, and restarting to see if the message goes away. Things like card readers, motion sensor, fingerprint readers (I know, XPS doesn't have one of these, but I include it on general principles), etc. If the error doesn't appear the next time you start, you've found the device.

As a last resort, if everything on the laptop is working correctly, you might consider just right clicking on it in Device Manager and disabling it. I've got a standard W7 image that's installed on all our Dells, both desk and laptop, and it doesn't have every single driver, so I've just disabled devices users don't need to prevent driver recognition at startup. Modems and card readers, for example.
