I have this problem that just seemed to start happening. While playing computer games my laptop will randomly freeze and just keep playing an annoying sound. The only way to get out of it is to hold down the power button. Does anyone know the reason for this or have a solution?

I had this too, I've read somewhere the charger could be involved (dell presumably has 2 types, only one good). My former xps l502x's motherboard and heatsink were replaced due to this issue, but it didn't help. I eventually received a new xps and luckily for me it had the good type of charger. I'm not even remotely sure if the charger is actually involved, but I was perfectly able to play on battery. Yet the second I inserted the charger, all hell broke loose.
