There is like a million threads on this topic but here you go anyway.
The HP has unknown screen quality because no one has seen the 1080p screen they offer yet. The Dell has the best screen available on consumer line laptops.
The HP takes the cake on the graphics card easily with the 6770 being about 25-30% better than the 540 available on the XPS.
The driver support I'm not sure about but I figure they both probably have similar support. -
Hard drive can be easily reached on the dv6 if you want to change it, that in the XPS 15 is a pain to get to. dv6 wins in looks (although that's a personal opinion), you get a fingerprint reader and a number pad with the dv6 which XPS 15 lacks but the XPS has a backlit keyboard.

the only thing i dont like about the hp laptops is that the click buttons are built into the trackpad. i love how dell laptops have the seperate 2 click buttons

@OP, if the hp 1080p screen turns out to be the 90% gamut screen, then the only dell will have on it is speakers and backlit keyboard. Otherwise, the hp wins pretty much in everything (fingerprint, graphics card, price) Build quality is debatable, and style probably goes to hp.
Dell XPS 15 OR HP Pavilion dv6tqe ?
