I'm trying to figure out if this is a manufacturing defect or are all glossy screens this way, and I just never noticed before. If you look at a bright reflection that contains straight lines (e.g. open window blinds) in the screen while it is turned off, I expected to see a perfectly flat mirror like image. But I noticed that if I focus on the screen and not the reflected image I see a very fine wavy pattern in the screen just behind the glass cover. It doesn't seem to distort text when the laptop is turned on but I can see it in the solid color area's. Is this something all glossy TN screens have? Woukd the new Dell Precision M4600 with the IPS screen also have this? If you have an Apple MBP with a glossy screen can you see it also? I like this laptop too much to return it over such a minor flaw (if it is a flaw) but was just curious if this is common to all glossy screens or not. Thanks

This is pretty normal, The 2 Vaio laptops I have here are similar to what you describe. The surface of the screens are not perfectly flat. The MBP is different, as I'm pretty sure there is a layer of glass/plastic in front of the display itself.
