    Hello everyone,

Just noticed this on the dell website. If you attempt to purchase a dell xps 15 you get the following message:

"Sorry, but this item is no longer available for purchase online. Please contact your sales representative for details on how to order."

Here is the link to see for yourself:
XPS 15 ? Intel Core i7 Laptop for High Octane Entertainment | Dell

Does this mean a refresh is coming? That's what happened with the M17x alienware, here is an old forum post about it:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m17x/558626-m17xr2-no-longer-available.html

    What do you guys think?

Update: Ok, now its back and not showing that message...weird

I can get all the way to the submit order page. Seems a little early for another refresh...

Are you serious... I just ordered my laptop yesterday :( . Well if it's anything good (better GPU etc.) I'll definitely reorder. It may just be a false alarm, though. We'll see by tomorrow :)
Speaking of which, does anyone know how easy it is to cancel orders? Do they charge any restocking fees for in-production laptops?

It is back to normal now! It is still weird that it did that though. It does seem rather early for a refresh anyway. I will check tomorrow!

My advice, DO NOT CANCEL YOUR ORDER!

Apparently it depends. Note sure about in-prod orders...
Once you get it, if you have a "documented technical issue with the new system" they apparently do not charge a restocking fee. I just called today. I ordered a M17x r2 and got it, only to find the thing was absolutely huge (at least 5 lbs more than any other 17" I've ever used). I've got a spinal injury, so weight is a big deal for me right now. The girl I got on the phone wouldn't cut the restock fee for me for that reason, even when I told her I was reordering a smaller unit. They needed the new order number before they would consider. I've got thousands of dollars in medical bills already, so I barely squeaked the first order out. I really need the credit before I can reorder. I'm calling back tomorrow and escalating if I get the same song.

I haven't searched yet, but I'm sure there is a better documented process for smooth returns on this forum. Maybe others can provide more advice.

Thanks for the info dscar, and I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. I hope you'll be able to convince Dell for a smooth reorder transaction :)
As for me, seeing that it went back to normal, I think I'll stick with the current order for now. Thanks guys!

I hope not, just ordered mine last night xD The site was a bit buggy for a bit.

Anyways, yeah, bit early for a refresh. And we'd expect some kind of inventory clearing sale to clear out the L501 and L502s.

I would expect the next refresh to be when Ivy Bridge rolls out, its supposed to be pin compatible with Sandy Bridge. Hopefully Dell will be nice enough to update the bios to allow us to upgrade our XPS 15 L502 to Ivy Bridge. I bought this to be as future proof as possible.
