    Hey guys,

So today I was trying out Skype for the first time on my XPS 15 and noticed that the microphone does not work. When I record it does not show any sound being input and there is a loud hissing noise when I playback. I ran the diagnostic tool and got:

    Error: 1B62:181B
    Error: 1B63:1D1B

Any suggestions? Perhaps a driver issue (anyone know where to download microphone drivers?). Though reading on some old posts it appears that it may be hardware related but Dell has not updated my warranty information yet and can't get tech support until then (a whole other story...). The laptop is only 3 weeks old now.

Also, I did a fresh install of Win7 and since then have not been able to find the Dell webcam software that was included originally. I did install the drivers though that I found on the website. Personally, I expected a lot better from a webcam that was advertised as "Skype certified HD" though probably guessing it was just a gimmick meaning it could do 720 resolution? What's your take on the webcam quality wise?

That website seems a bit sketchy in my opinion (just looking at the URL).

    Anyone else have any feedback?

Make sure you have the realtek audio suite installed as well as the Dell webcam drivers. I definitely wouldn't download from that site posted above, I would stick with official releases. The built in software seems decent, but I also agree about thewebcam quality, I was quite underwhelmed. All this HD hype, but the picture quality is quite meh, even playing with all the settings the colors just don't look right and the framerate is quite laggy. When I adjust the mic quality all the way up, the audio at least is actually pretty good.
