Incidentally, I reinstalled W7 HP on my L702x at weekend and whilst I installed all the drivers manually, the webcam driver was actually discovered and installed by Windows Update.

Have you tried patching to Service Pack 1 via Windows update? See if the driver is downloaded as part of this. It definitely did for mine and I presume you have the same camera on the XPS15 as we do on the XPS17.

No....I don't use the Dell software.

What I mean is, from my experience, Windows 7 identified that a webcam driver was required and downloaded and installed it automatically. I didn't get involved with this.

I have tested it with SKYPE and it is working fine....try unistalling the Dell webcam software and then checking Windows Update for a driver.

Just a thought....it won't do any damage to try this out. :D

mmm...it seems that the artifact its dead...so i have warranty so...they will send me a technician...to change the webcam....maybe its a faulty hardware o the cable its loose or the cable can be faulty...i dont know but its weird because windows dont recognize the camera as a device...like it did not exist
