    Hya friends ,

I just got my dell xps laptop (it's been one day) and i've noticed a weird problem.the colors seems flowing or say changing tones (only in the dark areas the shades are adjusting by themself for sometime) when the wallpaper is dark and opening right click menu on it or white windows for a little time and close them , the color tones dark color tones start changing for little time.

Is it natural or a problem?

    Laptop specs :
    Core i5 2.53GHz
    Nvidia 1 GB video card
    1080p B+RG LED screen
    4 GB RAM

    Thanks

I spotted this a couple times right after I got my dell. But it's been some time since I've seen it happen. seems right around the time I updated the drivers it stopped doing it.

It just happened again. I already updated all the drivers, BIOS, and everything... My replacement is coming next week anyway. I just hope my replacement comes with the good stuff :)

The problem isn't of hardware i.e screen display. I've found a solution which is :

1.Right click on desktop , select graphics properties
2.you'll see "Intel graphic and media control panel", then select the power tab
3.now on the right side of window you'll see "graphics power plan settings" , now select the "on battery" from roll over menu
4.click on "maximum performance" radio button

you're done. however i am still confused that this is or isn't a hardware problem since i just got my new laptop
some guyz here said they got their issues resolved by just updating the drivers and some are getting the display screen changed
so anyone can confirm that this isn't a hardware issue?

    Thanks a lot))

Hey guys - I just got my replacements screen (from the 720 to the 1080 panel) - and the colors are 'wierd'. It's hard to describe, but it seems 'flourescent'. Have other people had this problem? I'm not sure if it's a software or hardware problem. I have a color calibrator and noticed that the reds were 20% overblown out of the box, but I need to do a detailed calibration but can definately tell that, out of the box, the reds and pinks are blown waaaay out.

Of course, windows suspects the screen can show only 72% NTSC, the 1080p screen has 95% NTSC.
Thus, when windows wants to print the most green color possible on the NTSC spectrum, the outcome is actually more green. Calibration fixes this issue.

    Hard to explain really.

I have the exact same problem. Brand new XPS 15 and colours keep changing. I got the notebook for photo editing so colours are crucial and I'm very aware of any slight changes.

Noticed it the first time on the very irst start up out of the box. Installed my SpyderPro3 and calibrated and its still happening. Also updated all the driver and didnt make any difference.

Does anyone know if this is a hardware problem??? Leaving for Egypt and need this thing to be working before then...

Followed the advice above (setting power setting to max performance) still giving it some time to see if that fixes it. Did this work for anyone else??

It would make sense to disable Aero on battery I just didn't think windows had that option.

The failure of your GPU may not be related to it.
