I have the calibrated ICC profile listed in the owner's lounge for my B+RG LED.
Once I set it, it takes effect immediately (set as default).
The second I log out, or restart the computer, the profile is lost and reverted back to the sRGB default profile (even though in color management the calibrated ICC profile will still be selected).
What gives? It's incredibly annoying to try and use this calibrated profile because it never sticks.

you need to stop ifxpers.exe from starting on boot
either via msconfig or regedit -

Sounds good. Is there any downside to disabling this process?
-

Hmm, I don't see that in msconfig. Either in services or startup. What's the registry line I'd need to change?
-
The name of the item is "Persistence." Search the registry for "igfxpers.exe", it will be in one of the Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run folders.
No side effects that I can tell. It's likely just there to make the Intel color settings stick. -
Install the freeware ccleaner. This app. shows this option within "autostart".

I have disabled it via CCleaner. I can confirm however that the profile does not stick (reverts back) after playing a game now.
It seems Nvidia also overrides the color profile.
Ugh.. -

That also doesn't seem to have worked. It still loads the original default profile, even though the ICC is listed as default. I have to manually switch from the ICC to the sRGB and then back again to load the downloaded ICC profile.
Is this why people still use XP? >_> -

alittle off topic, but does this profile change the colors of everything? Like apps, browsers, movies, games?
Is it worth the change?
Please let me know, thanks. -

The profile actually does look good. It took some adjusting too, as it's darker than the default image. Not unlike "movie mode" on a HDTV. But ultimately it looks better.
Is it worth it? I have to say no, because I can't get it to stick. I am constantly manually trying to switch it back to the calibrated profile, even with this process disabled. I believe Nvidia is overriding it now, as it 100% of the time reverts after playing a game with the 540m.
It's up to you, maybe on your system it will stay calibrated better. For me, it's a pain in the . -
I can confirm from several experiences, that nvidia indeed resets color calibration, the only "solution" I've found so far is to set color calibration task in task scheduler to start a bit later (10s) and rerun periodically so that after playing game you get the calibration back within a minute or so...
-
I can't seem to find it in either regedit or msconfig.
-
if the nvidia driver is resetting the color profile you can try setting the nvidia desktop color setting to 'other application...'
-
First, disable the Intel Persistance Module (igfxpers.exe).
Second, change how Windows 7 handles profiles..
Should be good to go after you do this. -

Falcon, I've already done the things listed in your second link. It reverts back to the Nvidia profile regardless. Same with the post above yours. I have Nvidia set to "other applications.''
Researching it a bit, seems like there's a bug within Windows to where there's really nothing you can do about this. -

are you using the color profile on a clean windows install? or over the factory installed version?
I don't have any problems with the color profile after disabling igfxpers.exe, but i'm doing it on a clean install of windows 7 x64 sp1, and all the latest drivers.
the only dell apps that I installed are quickset and webcam central.
maybe there's another application that is resetting or changing the color profile on your xps.
not even gaming (steam and non steam games, old and recent games) or using photoshop or any other app resets my selected color profile. -
SaosinEngaged Notebook Evangelist
Fresh install. All the latest drivers.
igfxpers would have nothing to do with the Nvidia settings. For some reason, on mine (and others according to google), the 540m is resetting the gamma LUT profile to its own and keeping it there even after exiting the game.
No idea how to fix this. Probably won't be able to. Thanks for the suggestions though. -
This issue has been solved already in this thread:

I don't understand this fix in a latest post. What's the fix in that? I seem to have read it and did what it says, but still my Intel HD color settings AND color profile drops on every screen turn off. And I have to go to Intel settings, press OK, then settings magically restore. And then I have to remove and add a color profile again in color management settings.
Dell XPS 15 resetting ICC color profile on reboot.
