I was going online to see how much laptops were going to cost as the one I have currently doesn't meet my standards of working. Even though, I've decided to just upgrade my current laptop, I couldn't help comparing and thinking about these two. It seems that, if I were to purchase one, I should stick with Dell on this one - I built and customized both laptops (without holding back on the performance parts), both came out to the $1300-1350 range. I have added the pictures of how I customized them, but I'm still having a hard time deciding which one is better. I feel as if the XPS gets more options and well better colors. Who in the hell came out with a bright blue/pink laptop? I wouldn't really be caught dead with that thing!

Both have good core options, but remember the Sony VAIO EB has no backlit keyboard...that would annoy the crap out of me...

Also, the Dell has a better webcam, USB 3.0, far better speakers, Bluetooth 3.0, etc.

Did you choose the 1080p screen for the Dell? Because both laptops are available with 1080p. I'd still go with the Dell, though.

The E series are still plauged by high pitched noise, also the battery life is crap at least and the xps 15 1080p display is miles better.

Wait a sec i see Blue-Ray writer and 1080p screen on sony.

As you have configured xps with designer lid so i guess you will only get 720p screen with is not that good i guess.

Also is the graphic card on sony better ??

I think yes but you would lose optimus with sony.

you should be fine with either of those.
