Hello to everyone. I am new to this forum. Greetings!

I had ordered a Dell XPS 1530 on 27th May. The earlier delivery date I got was 9th June. Now it changed today to 6th June. The order status shows: Manufacturing Completed and it is currently on "Ship From Factory".

My question is: how much time does it take from Ship From Factory? I live in a metropolitan area in India.

I think it's hipped from China. The delay happens with customs most of time.

Wow I hate you. I ordered mine May 9th and no sign of shipping yet.

For North America the shipping portion usually takes 2-4 days. I would assume roughly the same for you followed by 4-5 days for customs and getting it to your house. Consider yourself lucky with how fast its going.

@Galad: Dell has a manufacturing facility here in India, I guess that is why they are shipping so fast.

It means it is in the process of being shipped/delivered to you.

You can call Dell, and they can give you the exact status of where your 1530 is right now. ;) :)

I was able to do that with mine, when it stated online that it was in DHL's hands and their was *situation* with the tracking number at that time ;) :)

It would depend on the method of shipping that you had opted (paid) for while ordering the notebook. :p

How are you getting yours done so fast? What did you order exactly? Is it that the North American factories are just overfilled at the moment?

The laptop is a custom build XPS 1530 (2.5 GHz processor, 3 GB RAM, GeForce 8600).

I guess the reason is that Dell has a manufacturing unit in a Special Economic Zone in Tamil Nadu, India. And I am from Chandigarh, India. And as mentioned above, my carrier is not DHL (since it is not an international shipment), but rather Blue Dart, an Indian company.

Shipping I can understand being different but in America we are dealing with crazy long build times. I ordered on the 25th and I have an estimated shipping date of the 13th.

In India, Dell assembles and ships it from the new factory at Sriperumbadur, Chennai... so 10 days to 2 weeks is normal for delivery anywhere in India.

Question: I hope there will be no compromise on the build quality? Do you have any experience?

So, I don't feel there were any *compromises* with mine ;) :)
