    Hi everyone,

I've got a xps with a 8600mgt and my laptop screen has been messing up every time after I close my lid, whether to shut down or standby. Most of the time the after I start up the computer again all I get are multicolored vertical lines on a black background. Restarting or closing and opening the lid again does not fix this and this ONLY happens after the lid has been shut.

I know there are faulty nvidia gpu chips running around but I don't think this is the problem here because

    #1 External monitors work fine
#2 It only happens after shutting the lid

The problem is usually after a while or after enough restarts the screen works fine again so I'm not sure if I can send this in for repair... I'm worried that the screen will magically be OK when they check it out at the factory and just send it back to me in the same condition.

I've checked the data cable connection under the keyboard and behind the screen and everything there seems fine.

If anyone has suggestions it'd be greatly appreciated.

PS. this problem's been persisting for about half a year now
