    Hi!

    I have a Dell XPS M1530 laptop.

Due to repeated opening of the laptop base (the part where the RAM is there), the screw marked by 'M' has completely eroded. The screw is depressed, so I cannot restore to any other means also.

My laptop was opened around 10 times since purchase (6 months) due to one fault or the other.

How can I open the screw? I need to clean my heatsink since the laptop is getting heated badly.

    Can anyone please help?

PS : The screw is completely eroded. Any further efforts lead to silver particles on the screwdriver tip.

1-Drill off the head off the screw.
    2-Open up the base.
3-Use pliers or a needle-nose to unscrew the screw out of the casing.

And if you're laptop is still under warranty, dell will probably send you a replacement for free.

in the future use a proper screw driver ;)

But you can drill it out. Or you can carefully superglue a screwdriver to the screw.

this usually works for me, although it should be dell's problem, not yours!
