I just bought my first Dell notebook - Dell XPS 15z - 2 weeks ago and now, "Dell Support Center" software reports that the battery is already 96% of the design capacity... Is that normal that battery wears so quickly?

Two things I've noticed.. the battery charges rapidly, and on battery, the notebook could go for 3+ hrs

Another thing I noticed, the screen flickers once or twice during gaming..

Also, Anyone having problems with GPU-Z 0.5.5 freezing all time?

    Please advice..

Is this what you are referring to (has a solution):
techieNetizen's Web Log: XPS 15z: Screen brightness flicker/dim on battery by Intel "Display Power Saving Technology"

If your battery seems a bit faulty you can always call up dell to replace it since it is a brand new laptop.

As for gpu-z 0.5.5, never had any freezes. Under the sensors tab at the very bottom see if you have the 'continue to refresh' option checked. If so, uncheck it and see if it stops the freezes. Otherwise try installing an older version.

Hello khetik and thanks for the reply.. the flicker I was referring to is best described as switching to blank screen to a normal one.. It happens once or twice and occurs only during gaming...

as for your battery, I think dell just gives out garbage batteries for the xps. My cousin has a wear level of 8% after 3 months of light use. Another user on here has a wear level of 15% after 10 months of use. Get in touch with dell.

Mine came with 96% also, but all you need to do is re calibrate your battery. It fixed it up and mine is now at 99%.

How to recalibrate your laptop battery

Make sure you disable any power alerts that makes the computer turn off/ hibernate at 10% battery.
