I've been trying to upgrade my 1366 x 768 screen to a 1080 screen on my 15z but haven't had any luck.

I know people have been able to do this with the regular xps 15 why not the xps 15z?

Has anybody gotten this to work? What did you have to do?

I've tried the lvds full hd cable for the xps 15 and that didn't work. I tried the stock cable for the 15z and that didn't work. They only make one cable for the 15z apparently. Also, I've tried both a B156HW01 V.4 and B156HW03 V.0 with both cables and neither worked.

    HELP!!!

no. it cracked when I removed it and I threw it away. I know I can get a replacement 720 but dammit i wanted a 1080. I now know all the dell part numbers for 15z compatible 1080 screens but getting the AU Optronics model # has been impossible.

They won't even tell me how many pins the connector has.

I dont understand how the hell this can be so hard. the 15z has the nvidia gt 525m embedded graphics. the same signal should be sent to the screen.

Should I gamble one more time and try the "40 pin" 1080 screen that's supposed to be compatible with the 15z?

dell quoted me $500+ prices for the thing and that's crazy talk.

Man oh man. That is terrible. Another $500? Can you sell what you have now and use that recoup to get another refurb 15z 1080p? I got mine for $680 with tax.

Don't know. I threw it away when it broke.

They sell the b156hw03 v.0 with 40 pins. I just cant believe how hard this is to get a 1080p monitor to work with a computer that comes with that option.

Hi, sorry I know this is quite an old thread, but I am looking at trying to do this and was wondering if you ever managed to get it to work??

    Thanks.
