Hey, I just bought the dell xps 15z last month from dell. It was working fine up until now when my ac adapter was plugged into the laptop and then suddenly the laptop just shuts down on its own?!!! The power button does not work now. I checked to see if its the adapter problems but when its plugged in the socket, the indicator is green but when the ac adapter is plugged into the laptop, the green light starts to blink.....now the laptop is not booting up.
I searched for this problem online on different forums and they say that there is a short in the motherboard? what! on earth is that? and what do i need to do now?
I bought this laptop online from dell and have the 1 year next day hardware support, so what do i need to do to use this warranty if its needed?
Thanks

Call up dell technical support and speak with them, they'll troubleshoot with you. It is not ALWAYS a laptop motherboard short, as I fix PC's and LPT's for a living, it MIGHT (not always) be your power supply also, one way to make sure is to check the battery meter and see if your battery has any life on it.
After troubleshooting that, IF you or a friend has a dell charger plug, plug it in and see if the laptop allows you to boot up, that means AC/DC adaptor failure. Either way if you're under warranty, you can get this replaced

I pressed the battery meter on the side to check the battery life but the light doesn't come up.
Yeah, I have tried using a different dell charger ac adapter (my dell inspiron 1545, which im currently using now) but it didn't boot up.
So yeah, I hope they can fix this somehow when they collect it next week sometime.
Thanks though -
