Great my Refurbished dell xps 16's monitor just died on me. Im typing this via a second monitor. The main monitor is complete black. Doesnt even display anything during boot. So much for the RGBLCD thing :( I dont even use this laptop much. Maybe once a day. I have a main desktop for regular use.

I bought it on 7/7/10, do you think its still covered under warranty? How do i purchase the complete care package?

Anyone have any idea on how to fix this?

Have you tried a "flea power reset"? Power down the laptop, disconnect everything, remove the battery, press and hold the power button for at least 5-10 seconds (then maybe wait for 30 secs), then put it all back together and power it up. Hopefully that helps.

If it doesn't, call Dell and try your luck at whether you can get them to fix it for you. I don't want to assume, but is it that you do not have a warranty anymore (because if you do have one I believe it is covered)? You purchase the complete care package from Dell (call them, or online from your Dell account or via service tag)

I believe Outlet items have a 90 day warranty. Not 100% sure about this though

You have one year warranty. Call Dell to replace the screen.

wierd. After 3 days of using the external monitor. My main laptop LCD screen is back on today when i booted it up.

I still got 10 days left on my 90 days. Should I give them a call? Will they believe me? Is this issue common?

They will believe you, they are pretty easy to deal with, I told them my monitor is fading color on the bottom left which it is due to the heat.., and they just sent a new one without saying anything more. Call in, doesnt hurt. And i had an RGBLED btw.
