Hello just got my Dell XPS 17

The 1030 card in it is terrible, I've tried the latest drivers from Dell and the card fails miserably, i barely get over 1 MB/s download speed, when I have a 50mbit connection, ethernet connection is fine, and runs full speed, and I have a usb wireless N dongle which also runs at full speed fine..

I want to use the built in wireless obviously tho instead of a dongle hanging out, faulty card maybe?

    Any help appreciated.

I've seen a lot of info on problems with this card, but many people were able to get it resolved without involving Dell. In at least one case, one of the antenna wires was not connected to the card.

First, make sure you have the latest drivers from Dell. Since you just got yours, you probably do, but check just in case.

Thanks for the reply, I've took the keyboard out and checked the wires all fine and connected properly, maybe I'veg got a duff card unfortunately, I'll get onto Dell tomorrow and see if I can get a new one.

fixed it, I had to disable the bluetooth in device manager, now it's running at full speed, how stupid though... I paid extra for this 1030 card and I can't use it at full speed with bluetooth enabled.......

Ok so that's one thing, let's see what other problems I get.

hello, i was also having the same issues. it seemed as though a combo of changing the wireless adapter power management and disabling bluetooth seemed to help.

but now that i have upated to the latest dell drivers (Network_Intel_W764_A06_Setup-686FH_ZPE.exe "14.3.0.6, A06"), i have another problem.

whenever my L702x wakes from sleep it takes several minutes to connect to my wireless network. before the driver update, it would connect immediately.

any ideas? (intel wireless N 1030)

    THIS.

I got into this thread, wanting to offer that suggestion. There you are!

All the Intel "WiFi/BT combo" cards are no good. Same problems on the L502X and other laptops.

I'm curious what the problem you're all having is with this card. Is it a signal strength issue?

I have this same card in my Vostro, and it works perfectly fine for me. With BT on I just did speedtest at about 38D/33U.

On my l502x here, i got slightly faster at 40D/30U also with Bluetooth on (Intel 6230).

Same speedtest.net servers, both sitting at 300Mbps connection strength.

Some (seems not all) of the wifi+bluetooth Intel cards had issues running both at once to the tune of massively reduced speeds with BT on. Nothing to do with signal strength, no driver fixed it, etc. This also wasn't limited to the XPS line, or even Dell for that matter. But it did seem to only affect a portion of users...

well i was able to fix my wifi adapter sleep problem by doing a clean reinstall of the driver.

i think it was due to that intel MyWifi utility that is included with the driver.

and my power management settings definitely effects wifi performance for me.
