Hi ,
Just ordered my XPS 17 L701x from dell outlet.
the only visible specifications were
Intel i7 740QM
640 HDD
4GB RAM
Aluminium top
1 year warranty
9 cell battery
but no mention about the graphics card or the keyboard etc..
Now I have heard that the XPS 17 with i7 come with 3GB GT 445 card by default. is this true ?
further more i don't see an option for backlit keyboard on the dell site so is that a standard too ?
* sorry if this has been asked before but i went through the XPS 17 thread but didnt find anything there as it seems like all the users configured their laptops unlike me who went the outlet route (Budget problems)

You can't customize the outlet laptops, you get what you order.
I just pulled up the outlet site (US site) and it shows all but one L701x laptops with the 435m 1GB graphics cards.
The one laptop shows 445M 3GB graphics card. It also shows this comes with the backlit keyboard. -
but you didnt read my questioni was saying the XPS with an i7. not any xps.
because what i have read and heard so far is that the xps with an i7 always comes with a 445M . i want to confirm this . thats my question -
- XPS L701X
- Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium
- Processor: Intel Core i7-740QM Processor (6M cache, 1.73 GHz)
- 500 GB SATA Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
- 6 GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHZ
- 8X DVD +/- RW Drive
- NVIDIA GeForce GT 445M 3GB graphics
The backlit keyboard is also not a default option. If its not listed then you are getting the regular keyboard. -
-
But pretty sure I have seen i7s with other than the 445m 3GB. -
I have not seen an L701x i7 without the GT445 and that goes for every country but to be sure post a message on the L701x thread to confirm this.
If you are in the UK it is definitely the GT445 as standard with no backlit keyboard, that I am 100% sure of. -
XPS 17 L701x I7, is definitely the 445M GT 3GB..
-
thank you that answers my questions i hope it is a 3GB 445m

shame tho, the lighted keyboard does come in handy, and just out of convience they should have offered it abroad. I do know the the MOBO is ready to accept a lighted keboard. We really haven't found out why the keyboard was not offered other than supply, and thats just an educated guess.
