Hi,
I was considering buying a new laptop and dell XPS 17 looks pretty good but... my friend bought the same laptop in February this year (in UK) with this screen 17.3" HD+ WLED True-Life (1600x900) and welll - there is a lot to be desired, especially the viewing angles are poor. When compared to my over 3 year old VAIO screen colors, contrast and angles are much worse. Now I am wondering if I choose this option for screen
17.3 FHD WLED AG (1920x1080) will I get the same LCD panel in terms of performance or is there a chance it will be better? The guy from Dell couldn't help, was just saying that all the screen are great... I have seen a review of this laptop on notebookcheck and in the review the screen looks pretty good which confuses me even more.

The FHD AG screen is a better screen, but still not what people consider amazing. I like my FHD screen way better than the 900p I originally had. The matte finish is especially nice for not reflecting every single thing near me...

had the 1600*900 screen and didn't really like it - as you said, washed out and poor viewing angles so replaced it with the AUO B173HW01 v.4 1080p Screen which is of similar quality to the excellent 1080p 15inch screen found in the l502x
Personally I prefer glossy screens anyway though -
Why do they even offer laptops with crappy 720p and 900p screens. Even big 18" they offer a stupid 900p screen so everything is just bigger yet you can't even fit more than one window on the screen. I only get laptops with 1080p screens which are harder to find lately.

In that case, I think I would buy an external screen or, even better, I might just go with a desktop setup instead.

I would like to know if you could share high res picture from your new screen AUO, in order to see the readability of texts. I have ordered an FHD AG screen from Dell, but it seems to be a poor quality screen.
And, was it difficult to change it ?
Thank you very much for your help.
