- was late to dinner on this one...many posts already on it, sorry.

It has already been posted. http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=151177

I think it looks ugly.
-
If that's real carbon fiber, it'd be sick.
-
I'm getting sick just by looking at it. The XPS systems look much better than that. And the 1520 is the definition of Sexiness so what happened?
-
-
I don't like the looks of it
-
Its not real CF. Thats quite easy to see in the larger pics in the other thread. Its not even close, just a bunch of black dots on a silver background. It looks like they tried to make it fake CF, but failed in their attempt.
And the 8600GS is despicable. A 17" gaming notebook should not have a worse GPU than a 14" business notebook (Asus F8Sv). The 8700M GT should be the only GPU option until the 8800M (NB8E) is released this winter. -
CF or not CF - the design is only one: ugly!! And Dell makes a big mistake with this one, the XPS M1710 looks lot better. The graphics options should be go7950GTX or 8700M GT and nothing else til the 8800M's are coming out.
Does anybody know about the placing of the interfaces?
@ vivek: From where do you know that the 8800M is coming in the winter? I thought they would be released til end of summer... -
I don't like the white keyboard -

icky bad..................
-
fake fake fake... please let it be a fake!!
-
it looks so fake. They keyboard looks copied in photoshop from m1710 and just pasted on a 1720. if you look closely at the front media buttons their positioning and colours are screwed up...........
-
Aug 27 is past us now. When will this be released?
All I see is this: http://www.dell.com/content/topics/...ts/topics/en/us/inspnnb_1730_teaser?c=us&l=en -
I read somewhere that it will released be mid-September, but I wouldn't be suprised if it is later.
-
Well, some people at work have seen it and they liked it and thought it was sexy. So I'm not sure those pics that are currently out are accurate or not. Tentative release is the 3rd week of September. If you want to sign up for the pre-sale, you can by visiting here.

Looks like all the new pics have been lifted from this.
It confirms September 21st. -
you said the 8800M (NB8E) is released this winter.
Is it better to wait for that card than buying now ?
Pleas Help
I dont mind spending $6000 on a laptop but dont want to be outdated like the 9750 was out & already 8700 are out -
What's wrong with you guys? The black marble around the back lit keyboard is very pleasing. In addition, it has a sexy lid and with xps letters that light up! Nothing beats that.
-
That is quite possibly the ugliest laptop I've ever seen!!!
-
Hello all
YES XPS 1730 is OUT Now on dell site
But is it better then the Alienware m9750
from both these which has a better graphic card ?
is true tht the Dell we will be able to upgrade its 8700 to the 8800 cards when they are out ?
If so then isnt the Dell a better buy ?

I don't think the XPS 1730 looks ugly at all! I did read the (english) test at www.notebookjournal.de - loads of pictures
Of course, the gaming performance of that rig is really astonishing.

All new XPS- and Inspiron- laptops come with a wireless sniffer.
This works even when the laptop is switched off. Pressing the button shows, if a detected network is in range.
THAT IS SO KOOL -
I have ordered the blue one. Just wish it would hurry up and get here.
