Computer runs fine on AC power.

When on battery it will shut down intermittently at random times. Sometimes it can run for many hours. Sometimes it shuts down right away. BIOS has been updated to latest version: 2.13. BIOS Power Log shows error message: "ASF2 Force Off". Computer will sometimes not boot on battery power. Power switch light doesn't even come on.

I expected the 3-4 year old battery is bad so I replaced it. Same result.
I disconnected the CMOS battery and battery cable, hold power switch down to drain any charge; BOOTS into bios OK, But the same problem returns.

Any ideas what could be causing this and how to fix it?

I'm having a similar problem on my XPS... so I'll be watching this. I haven't tried a new battery yet though. Just made a post on this a few minutes ago in an older battery related thread of mine. Might want to watch that too.
