Just bought a new XPS 9550 (i-5, 256GB SSD) at the Microsoft store and concerned about the date of manufacture in the BIOS listed as 10/29/15. I thought this might be ok, but the laptop also had the original BIOS loaded and old drivers in the Windows 10 build.
Hope a few 9550 owners (same or different model - please state which) might check their laptops and respond with the date listed in the BIOS for their machines.
Trying to decide if it makes a difference in keeping this machine or swapping it out. Appreciate it.

... What is your concern about the date of manufacture?
A laptop that has been sitting on a shelf for 5 months is identical to a laptop that was manufactured last week. You'd be wasting your time to try and swap the laptop to get a more recently-manufactured unit.

Having worked for computer and mobile device makers, I understand that they often implement fixes/enhancements/updates at the hardware level.
But, all this aside, I'm looking to see if I can confirm newer units are shipping or that it is common to see this date of manufacture. Trying to keep a focused thread, but always appreciate the time someone takes to respond. -
I bought mine mid March and it was manufactured end of december.

most direct from Dell will be made to order and have a recent build date, any other outlet will have shelf stock so an older build dates expected.
