I replaced my aging 2012 hp envy 15 with this dell and USB is driving me crazy. I plugged it right in where my hp would sit except I added a anker usb-c adapter. Anyhow, USB constantly disconnects.
At home, I have a lot of USB devices, mostly CD-Roms because I'm digitizing 10's of thousands of CDs. my hp took up to 17 external CD-Roms. But when I'm out and about with just a mouse, 2 external drives, and a Traktor controller plugged in, it disconnects a lot. Mostly the USB-c connected devices. Has anyone else had this issue? If I plug and unplug a crap load of times I can get it to finally stop and be stable for a while, but not always.

that is the usb-c adapter that I'm trying. -
Does the windows event viewer say anything about why it disconnected?

I saw this when my monitor just went to sleep for no reason:
The Intel(R) Content Protection HDCP Service service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s).
and then this:

why my usb stopped working. I will keep looking at the event viewer. -
it has connected and disconnected twice and the only thing in the system is bluetooth stuff

I think new USB and HD Graphics drivers were put up for the 9550 in the last two days (for my system anyways)...
Why don't you check those out... -
I did the auto-detect method from dell.com. Do you have to install it separately? What was on the site hasn't made anything better. Though to note I was on a much much older version before I started updating things yesterday.

I noticed that it keeps installing 2 things over and over.

The 9550 has no asmedia chip. So why do you think it should work?
-
Maybe Eason referred to the new TB firmware update. That one seems to need a new BIOS for the 9550, which would explain why this update is not shown on the 9550 driver page at this time.

The Asmedia drivers are (if at all) for the optional external dock. The NB doesn't have Asmedia inside.
-
I'm going to try the tb3 drivers and firmware updates posted for the 9350 today. They didn't list anything under "fixes", but I'm hoping it will improve the tb3's reliability with docks like the razer core -
These usb-c accessories are very finicky and are not beta tested well.
I've had several usb-c accessories not work -
Well, I have a bunch of them as well, mostly cheap stuff from Amazon, and they ALL work...
-
auskey whatever is the usb-c that I'm using. regardless, without usb-c, it disconnects my usb-3 devices a lot and my hdmi monitor a lot. it just happens a lot more if I plug in usb-c
