Hey guys thought it would be neat to keep track of upgrades or changes made to our laptops whether within the XPS line, general Dell portfolio or otherwise. I figured most of us all had/have something in common which is why we bought a XPS. Therefore, I am interested in other laptops being used by fellow XPS owners and past XPS owners.
Let me begin im the owner of a M1330 (specs in sig) since 2008 it has been reliable but lately it has been running pretty hot. Plus I figured its time for a change since I know most laptops begin to act up after a year.
This week I got a Sony Vaio CW series which im using to type this, specs are 4gb ram, 500gb hd, 2mp cam+mic, Intel i5 processor, blu-ray, bluetooth, 14" screen.
It will suffice for now im not as excited about it as I was when I received my XPS but its nice. Really hoping that Dell can make a super reliable XPS 13" in the future.
So share on what laptop you are using now given the fact that you have a XPS or were a past XPS user.
I hope to quickly become a past XPS owner since im going to be sending my XPS in for tuning/repairs to resolve the overheating problems then im going to sell it.

isn't this more like a bashing Dell thread just like the other one "Dell Laptops=Junk" ><
-
If that is your interpretation please re-read my initial post.
Think of it this like being curious as to what people in your high school senior year or who were in sixth form with you are doing with their lives now. It is just that simple.
Also people can upgrade from one XPS system like a M1330 to another like an XPS Studio 16. -
I went from an xps1330 to an adamo, loved it, except no discrete gfx. Sold it and now got an hp pavillion dm4t - still waiting to see it. I think will be hard to forget adamo's ssd, backlit keyboard, construction, 13 inch screen etc. Alas no 13" with discrete gfx out at the moment other than $ony z. If hp brought hp pavillion dv3 or acer brought timeline X 13 incher from singapour to the US, those would be my other choices. Or if someone in dell marketing wakes up at the steering wheel and brings us Vaio Z type of specs sans dual ssd, blueray and carbon fiber for around $1000, I am sure I wouldn't be the only one snapping that up.

Did you try to clean the dust of your XPS fan? Makes a lot of differente in terms of temperature
-
Hey Kilador im going to do so this week, dont know how to do it myself so giving it to some repair people.
Huai I absolutely love the adamo but its the SSD which is the dealbreaker for me since I only buy computers from Best Buy.
Definitely agree that Dell needs to wake up and start providing killer specs in the 13" body. -
Why is ssd a deal breaker for you?
-
More importantly, why do you only buy computers from Best Buy? That is, ironically, the worst place to buy a computer.
-
Number one the SSD is a bit too expensive for me especially given their capacity.
Im not in the USA but I have relatives there and its better for them and me since Best Buy usually has cheaper prices that the manufacturers' websites for my computers to be bought there.
