Hey everyone,
I got my XPS M1530 about 5 months ago and everything was fine. But today, while I was playing Test Drive Unlimited, I noticed that the game began slowing down etc.. so I opened up HWMonitor (ver. 1.10.00) to check the temperatures. Here they are:
ACPI - THM_ : 90 C
CPU : 90 C (Both Cores)
GPU Core: 90 C
My Nvidia driver version is 176.44 (downloaded from Dell), I have the A12 bios. These temperatures look really high, especially for the CPU, what should I do? Please help![]()
PS: I have 6 V battery, room temperature is always between 22-25 C

90C is bad for the m1530... both CPU and GPU
sure your fan is running, no dust.... whatsoever?
download another driver, maybe this one is reporting wrong temps? (but i doubt it, since CPU is 90C...)
call Dell and send it in if you still have warranty -
dust!
get some condensed air to blow the dust out!
it works great for me! -
The fan runs as always. But I am not sure about the dust. Where do I get condensed air from and where do I blow it at?
I noticed the temperatures generally increased when I updated my driver to 176.44, but they weren't that high (usually around 82 C for GPU, and 70 for CPU)...
But now I am getting 90 C all around
I still have the warranty, but I don't wanna send it in if I can avoid it (I need to do work on my computer).
Thanks everyone -
Pretty sure you'll have next business day on site support although that might depend on your country. I had similar symptoms, Dell replaced both the mobo and the heatsink at my workplace - took about an hour, I have lower temps than ever before. The engineer said all the thermal paste had burnt away.
