New XPS 13 owner here, been having this issue which I haven't encountered before on other laptops I've had.

When watching youtube videos, the laptop thinks its idling and goes to sleep at the duration it's set at in power options, now I've tried the same thing while plugged in but it only happens when on battery.

On my other laptops, the normal behaviour is that the laptop only goes to sleep when idle (ie not playing videos, youtube, copying files etc), but tis XPS 13 seems to be treating watching videos on youtube as being idle.

Now I know I can change the settings to sleep after 1 or 2 hours but I still want to retain it going to sleep when on battery after 5mins of idle like I have on my other laptops

    Any help would be appreciated.

PS the touchpad is also horrible and tap clicks don't register every now and then is this normal?

    Hi viper8548,

I suggest you to reinstall the Video drivers and the Touchpad drivers. Please check if the auto sleep issue gets fixed. You can download the drivers by punching in the Service Tag by visiting the following link:
Support for Home | Dell US

After installing the TouchPad drivers, please follow the steps provided below to increase the sensitivity:

    1. Go to Control Panel and select Mouse. The Mouse Properties window is displayed.
    2. Under the Cypress TrackPad tab, select Click to Change Cypress TrackPad Settings.
    3. Under the Palm Rejection tab, increase the Palm sensitivity.

Let me know if you need further assistance.
